SQL Logging in Rails 1.1
I just upgraded to rails 1.1 and noticed that I no longer see the SQL queries in the development log. Is there an easy way to enable the logging of sql queries? I''m using rails 1.1/sqlite3/mongrel on winxp pro. Thanks! Tabrez -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Resend: How do I configure sendmail to accept emails for dovecot when dovecot has sql auth/user db.
Apologies for resending this, I am not sure it made it through the first time.. --- Included below are my config files: sendmail.mc, dovecot.m4, dovecot.conf, dovecot-sql.conf. Whenever I try to send email into this system, it rejects it with user does not exist, however, the user does exist as far as dovecot (imap) is concerned, it is in the database. How to Selectively Quite SQL Logging
I know about logger.silence but here is the issue: I''m comfortable with the way the user engine is working, but it generates quite a bit of SQL noise in the logs. I''d like, for that engine, to suppress the SQL logging. Code in it has return statements in conditionals, e.g., if !user? RAILS_DEFAULT_LOGGER.debug "checking guest authorisation for

How to do SQL queries outside of AR
Hi Everyone, I''m trying to figure out how to do SQL queries in the Controller. I know this is not recommended, but I can''t use ActiveRecord because I am dealing with thousands of a different tables, one for each user, and I don''t think AR can be made to handle that situation. You can assign the table name; but that''s a class variable so any particular

Webrick not showing sql queries any more?
Hi all, I updated rails to 1.1.2, and somehow, when I run script/server on a new rails project, I don''t see the sql queries in the console any more... It was very useful to see them live... Does any one have any idea why? Thank you very much! Nauhaie -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

A "strict Arel" mode for ActiveRecord to prevent SQL injection vulnerabilities
Hello rubyonrails-core, I’ve been looking into possible changes to ActiveRecord / Arel to make it easier to write Rails applications that are free of SQL injection vulnerabilities, and in particular do so in a way that makes it easy for a code reviewer to verify that the app is safe from such bugs. The concern: ----------------- With the ActiveRecord API as is, it’s relatively easy to write

Shared mailboxes not working with . dot namespace separator - values truncated in SQL

Eager Finder SQL
Hi, I just uploaded a Rails plugin that allows you to specify custom SQL when doing a find with associations (AKA eager loading). One of the problems I encountered when implementing the Chacha Underground (http://underground.chacha.com) was being able to use queries provided by the DBA to efficiently get all the informaion I needed to render a page. In some cases, I needed to go two or three

Embed SQL queries in R?
Hi All, Most of the work I am doing with R uses data which I am pulling from various SQL queries. To streamline the process even more, I was wondering if it was possible to embed SQL queries in R - that way avoiding the need to first get the data, then move to R to process it. I haven't found anything out there on this yet, so if you know of a good resource that includes this topic, I would

Running SQL over SAMBA?
Hi All, Does anyone run SQL and/or exchange on SAMBA server share? Are there any special considerations to take? would you be kind enough to share your experience doing it? Any special smb.conf configuration is required? is there any performance issue or functional limitations supporting it? I am just wondering since Microsoft encourages block level access over share/file level access.

Re: Rails SQL Server adapter
Hey Ryan, I asked this question awhile back, but any support planned for table returning functions, or stored procedures? I''m envisioning basically a mutable model class where you have 1 or more instance variables defined (with default values) that are used in the SQL queries as input parameters. When you instantiate the class you can specifically define these parameters or use the

can someone explain sql server performance differences?
Friends, I was wondering if any Rails/SQL Server experts could offer some help in regards to a question I had. Lately I have been getting some "timeout expired" errors in rails for some of my find_by_sql queries. When I load these pages, they often take upwards of 2-4 minutes and eventually they throw a timeout exception. When I run the exact same query in SQL Enterprise Manager, the

Question about auth-master, deliver, and SQL maps
I have been running Postfix/Dovecot with a Postgresql backend for several months, and everything has been running great. Now I want to add server side filtering, so I'm attempting to configure deliver. The SQL maps for Postfix are all keyed upon the recipient email address. The SQL map (user_query) for Dovecot is keyed upon the IMAP login name, which is potentially unrelated to the email

ODBC connection to Microsoft SQL Server

Can we cache user home pages?
Hi Railers, I am trying to create a simple application like a guest book which has users and uses sessions to keep track of which users are logged on. The user''s page is constructed after doing some SQL queries and the user clicks on another link and hits the back button I dont want to regenerate the whole page (which is what happens now) .So I want to use some kind of caching mechanism.
