I have a user Model with a class method that I am using to do some
authentication
basically something like this

:email, :birth_date, :sex,
:password, :password_confirmation
email_regex = /\A[\w+\-.]+@[a-z\d\-.]+\.[a-z]+\z/i

ActionView::Base.field_error_proc not getting an error field
In my User form I have standard field to get user record attributes

How do you update HABTM relationships or create.
Hi,
I have a User model with a HABTM relation to a Role model and vice
versa. So There''s a roles_users table that references :user and :role.
I''m using formtastic, and in the user.edit.html.erb I have a line that
outputs the roles as a multi-select list box. But the box is not
showing the roles that have been assigned to the users.
Another problem is that if I select a few

Two quick newbie questions
2 quick questions regarding authentication ...
1) the flash[:notice] on successful login looks completely wrong to me.
How should it be done?

@user = User.new(params[:user])
authentic_user = @user.attempt_login
if authentic_user
session[:user_id] = authentic_user.id

Code reviews: my dumb use of acts_as_commentable (newbie)
With the help of several heroes here yesterday I beat my way into a
working solution to adding comments to one or more models in my
application using acts_as_comentable. Great plugin, but my
implementation is lame. I need enlightenment.
I have users who log in. For several views I want to let them add
comments. Enter act_as_commentable which does just this -- it''s
polymorphic, so you

I can''t figure out why I am getting a failure. It renders out fine in

User Authentication
I''m trying to create a simple authentication system but am failing
miserably. I''m (sort of) following the "Logging In" chapter of the Agile
book. Ideally, any access to http://example.com/publish (and any of its
subdirectories) should redirect to http:/example.com/publish/login when
there is no valid session user_id.
Code so far:

Creating multiple objects from form data
I''m in the process of creating a sign up form for an online application.
The form collects account info, company info, and then info for an
administrative user.
The method looks like this:
def create
@account = Account.create!(params[:account])
@company = @account.companies.create!(params[:company])
@user = @company.users.create!(params[:user])
end
However, this inevitably fails

Rails 3 / ActiveModel for Credit Card information?
When submitting billing information in the past I''ve always used
attr_accessor for credit card details as they should not be saved in
the database. In addition I always end up storing the card
expiration date so that the date form helper works correctly.
With Active Model it seems logical to create a CreditCard class to
hold this data instead.
**1st issue.**
It seems there still

capitalizing an attribute - view, controller, or model?
The users will enter students names on forms. How do I intercept the
first and last names and have them stored capitalized when the user
inputs them in lower case?
Do I mess with the form html, skipping form_for helpers and using
conditional clauses in the view?
Do I need to separate out the individual attribute and update it
separately in the controller actions that save/updates the

Problem with a setter that converts euros to cents
Hi,
I have some problems with an application where I''m using custom
accessors to do currency conversions. In my model, I have a price
attribute in the database that stores the value in cents, to avoid
future problems with float arithmetic and round. But at the views, I
would like to show the price in euros, with decimal for the cents. So
I defined a new attribute called price_in_euros,

Arbitrary elements in form_for?
I would like to use form_for in my project so that I can easily change
the style of many forms at once. However, it seems to me like
FormBuilders only support certain kinds of form elements(!). Surely
there must be a way to add arbitrary labels/form elements to a form.
Let''s say I had a form that looks like:
ID: (plain-text label)
Name: (text field)
Birthdate: (date chooser)

Rails 3 possible bug in Routing

wanted to check if someone can confirm this as a bug in the Rails 3
beta gem.
config/routes.rb contains:

post ''login'' => ''session#create'', :as => :login
GET /login works fine:
