ZFS automatic snapshots SMF service updated
Hi All,
I just posted version 0.6 of the automatic snapshots prototype on my web
log. The new features are:
* ZFS send/receive support
* Multiple schedules per filesystem

how do I find out if I am on a zfs filesystem
This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to find out if an
arbitrary filesystem is actually a zfs filesystem? Like if I were to
write a script that needs to do different steps based on the
underlying filesystem.
Any pointers welcome.

zfs destory snapshot takes an hours.
Hi,
I am facing issue with zfs destroy, this takes almost 3 Hours to delete the snapshot of size 150G.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue, why zfs destroy takes this much time.
While taking snapshot, it''s done within few seconds.
I have tried with removing with old snapshot but still problem is same.

ZFS Boot for Solaris SPARC
Hi,
Searching this alias I can find a number of guides and scripts that
describe the configuration of Solaris to boot from a ZFS rootpool.
However, these guides appear to be Solaris 10 x86 specific.
Is the creation of a ZFS boot disk available for Solaris SPARC ?
If so, could you point me in the direction of where I can obtain details
of this new feature from.
Thanks and Regards,
Paul.

? Removing a disk from a ZFS Storage Pool
Hi
my understanding is that you cannot remove a disk from a ZFS storage
pool once you have added it...but I also think I saw an email from Jeff
B saying that the ability to depopulate a disk so that it can be
removed is being worked on....or was I dreaming ?
What is the status of this ?
Thanks

zfs send and recordsize
Hi Everyone,
I perform a snapshot and a zfs send on a filesystem with a recordsize
of 16k, and redirect the output to a plain file. Later, I use cat
sentfs | zfs receive otherpool/filesystem. In this case the new
filesystem''s recordsize will be the default 128k again. The other
filesystem attributes (for example atime) are reverted to defaults
too. Okay, I can set these later,

zfs compatibility x86-sparc
Hi,
Can I export a ZFS pool on Solaris 10 x86 and then import it on a
Solaris 10 Sparc?
Are ZFS pools portable between sparc an x86 Solaris 10?
Thanks in advance,
Ana

zfs -H output ??"s
Hi,
I have a customer that would like to open a RFE on the following issue...
Describe the problem:
It would be nice if zfs -H didn''t print any output to STDERR (or if
there was some way to tell it not to).
Given it''s for scripting mode, I''m going to be checking the return code
anyway and doing something based on the return code not the string sent
to STDERR.

? NFSv4 and ZFS: removing write_owner attribute does not stop a user changing file group ownership
Hi
I am accessing files in a ZFS file system via NFSv4.
I am not logged in a root.
File permissions look as expected when I inspect them with ls -v and ls -V
I only have owner and group ACLs...nothing for everyone.

Is there a way to upgrade my current ZFS version. I show the version could

I cannot see how to control this? I am creating new OST''s but they are
all getting the same index number.
Could this be a problem with the mgs?
Thanks,

ZFS quotas & zoned datasets
I''m seeing some unexpected and strange behaviour with respect to quotas
and zones.
Initially I set things up with no quota on the data set that as
delegated to the zone. Then as the local zone admin I created a new
child dataset and set a quota on that. Now the global zone admin
attempts to quota the delegated dataset, and it appears to work but....

questions about ZFS Send/Receive
Hi guys,
we are proposing a customer a couple of X4500 (24 Tb) used as NAS
(i.e. NFS server).
Both server will contain the same files and should be accessed by
different clients at the same time (i.e. they should be both active)
So we need to guarantee that both x4500 contain the same files:
We could simply copy the contents on both x4500 , which is an option
because the "new

ZFS questions with mirrors
IHAC that is asking the following. any thoughts would be appreciated
Take two drives, zpool to make a mirror.
Remove a drive - and the server HANGS. Power off and reboot the server,
and everything comes up cleanly.
Take the same two drives (still Solaris 10). Install Veritas Volume
Manager (4.1). Mirror the two drives. Remove a drive - everything is
still running. Replace the drive, everything
