Unable to build R-2.10.0 and later releases on AIX 6.1
Hi,
I have been able to build R-2.9.2 on AIX 6.1 and AIX 5.2. However, I
failed to build R-2.10.0 and later releases on these AIX platforms. The
error messages I got are attached below:

problem building R packages on RHEL 4 Linux with Intel compilers
I would like to build R and packages with the Intel 10.1 compilers in RHEL4.
Using the flags below, I can successfully build R using a vanilla
./configure, but when I install new packages they build with gcc. My
sysadmin suggested adding the flags to ./configure as illustrated below, but
then the R build blows up with the config tail output that follows far
below. It looks like gcc is still being

R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers,
motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of
our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64.
Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package
Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error
occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is
compiled separately:

How to get R cmd to check Fortran array bounds
I'm trying to get the this Fortran array bounds check to run on my code as my
package has been rejected for failing this test. I read writing R
extensions and it appears to run this test I should use a Makevars file with
one of the following two flags depending on my compiler:
FCFLAGS = -g -O2 -mtune=native -fbounds-check
FFLAGS = -g -O2 -mtune=native -fbounds-check
and store it in the src

linux multi-threaded compilation is running only on one processor
Hello,
I compiled R-2.15.2 with linux intel compilers (see below).
when I execute some R code on a // 4 proc x 4 cores // server
(export MKL_NUM_THREADS = 16)
very often I have the situations where only one processor (4 cores) is
active instead of 4 (16 cores) !
do you know this fact depends on what ?
thank you !
P.S.
many functions of R are single-threaded,
is there a simple way to make them

Building R on Solaris (OpenIndiana) with gcc 4.6.2 for amd64 target - relocation problems solved
Hello,
the "R Installation and Administration" handbook states in Section C 5.1:
For ?amd64? the builds have failed to complete in several different
ways, currently with relocation errors for libRblas.so.
To fix it: add '-shared' to the SHLIB_LDFLAGS, SHLIB_CXXLDFLAGS and
SHLIB_FCLDFLAGS before starting configure.
So the complete set of variables' values sufficient to

[PATCH 1/4] Do not override CFLAGS, as CFLAGS is a user flag.
* Furthermore, use NDEBUG globally to detect the presence
of building with more debug output information.
AX_CHECK_ENABLE_DEBUG is easier to use, and nowadays
Gnome has also switched to it from its own custom solution.

Problem with configure's detection of glob on 2.6.0 (PR#10468)
Full_Name: Mike Pacey
Version: 2.6.0
OS: SuSe Linux 9.3 x86_64
Submission from: (NULL) (194.80.32.10)
A "vanilla" version of R configures and compiles without a problem on my system.
Switching to using the PGI compiler configures correctly (see the values at the
bottom fo thismessage), but compilation aborts with:
