guidelines for version specific info on wiki pages
hi Guys,
Just wondering if we should have some guidelines as to how version
specific information should be handled on the wiki ?
One way might be to have a version tag on each page on the top right and
indicate what Versions that page is going to work with. Then in the body
have a Grey bar to indicate version specific info. But this might get a
bit messy.
Any other ideas ?

Automated listing of translations on each wiki page
Dear all,
This is a continuation of the discussion on "Link to Chinese translation
in Wiki frontpage" dated 7 May 2009.
To re-cap, I have suggested that the patch in
http://moinmo.in/FeatureRequests/ThisPageInOtherLanguages can be used to
automatically generate links to translated pages at bottom right of the
wiki panel. In addition, I have proposed that the use of a dictionary

Wiki license, again
and this time with a decision, please.
Hi,
I just had a talk with someone on IRC who wanted to reuse stuff from
<http://wiki.centos.org/MarketingMaterial> and asked me about the
licensing of content on there.
Which made me think "Well, let us restart this discussion again". We
*do* need a license for content on the wiki. The three licenses we're
favouring (well, sort of)

google translate for missing language pages ?
Can we / should we think about using google translate for offering pages
in languages where there is no local translation ?
http://biohackers.net/wiki/GoogleTranslate.py { viewable in a normal
browser } has a plugin for this!

I'd like to contribute to the wiki
Hi!
I've written an article on setting up cryptroot on CentOS:
http://www.msquared.id.au/articles/cryptroot
I'd like to create links to it from a few places in the wiki. For
example:
* http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos
Create a 'security' heading and link to either my article
or a page on the wiki that links to my article
* http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops

How to put always visible links on a multi-language wiki
In a multi-language way, if we put the main pages on the navigation
bar (navibar) which one we'll chose to put on?, Ex. If we want the
Documentation page be always visible to users, no matter where they
are on the wiki, we can put it on the navibar (as Ralph already
mentioned) to make it always accessible. So, in our new structure
(move English pages to en/, Spanish to es/, and so on) the

wxruby website/wiki
Hi
I''ve given the wxruby wiki/website a quick lick of CSS, and added some
navigation to each page. Quite a lot of updated and re-organised content.
http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/
I''m no Picasso so suggestions to make it less ugly are welcome.
Even more, we''d like your content - it''s a wiki so thrives on your
contributions:

ISSN for wiki
Hi,
It would be nice if we can get ISSN for wiki.centos.org. Any plans? I
know assigning ISSN for blogs is being held now. If we have ISSN it
might help to get more people to contribute. Just the hint.

I want to contribute to the wiki
Greetings,
I just signed up on the CentOS Wiki as user ScottDowdle.
I'd like to update one page and add a new page... so when a AdminGroup user notices and has the time to do the deed, please allow me the following:
1) Update - http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/BrokenVserver
I would like to add an explanation on why some VPSes do not include yum. I'm a long time member of the

Unable to map more than 4 workspaces to keyboard shortcuts on C7.
Hi,
I have a new install of c7 with the gnome desktop. I run it with 12 workspaces.
Normally I create the shortcuts so that ctrl+f1 maps to workspace 1 ctrl+f2
maps to f2, etc. When I goto applications -> settings -> keyboard -> shortcuts
-> navigation, I only have the ability to define "Switch to workspace" 1
through 4. There does not appear to be a way to map keyboard

CentOS Wiki: Contribute permission request
Dear Sir or Madam,
According to the policy described in http://wiki.centos.org/HowToContribute
and after receiving the attached email from Ralph Angenendt
<ra+centos at br-online.de>, I respectifully request permission to post
a "How to contribute RPMs to the CentOS Project" document; the basic
text is currently at http://durval.com.br/CentOS_RPM_Contrib_HowTo.html

Improving the PageRank of individual wiki pages
Hi,
Let me first stress that the success of the wiki is tight to how many
users find it as a resource. And that users will only find the wiki for
their problems if it has a higher PageRank.
(I am using PageRank as an example, other search engines would do
better if we can implement some changes overall.)
If we take the HowTos/Laptops/Wireless page as an example, the page is not

moin auth from http-auth
hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone know the possibility of getting Moin to inherit
http auth ?
Was just looking at a few things that we might be able to do - and using
inherit from http auth might make life a bit easier for us, and users.

howto's and docs from the forums
hi guys,
just spent 20 minutes looking through the forums on the website, and it
seems people are posting howtos and walkthoughs there.
whats the general feeling ? is it worth getting in touch with the
authors and seeing if they would like to maintain them on the wiki
instead ?
I know some of them are really mad and we wont / dont want to highlight
them too much ( like, gnome-2.16 hacked

Wiki external links
Hi,
I am personally not that fond of the little globe that precedes all the
external links in the Wiki. Often it disturbs in the reading of a
paragraph and whether a links is external or internal should not matter to
the user at all.
I even wonder how many newbies understand why the icon is shown at all.

Restricting Services (POP or IMAP)
It would be great to have a HOWTO in the wiki, on how to restrict
services by username in dovecot, so some users are allowed IMAP
and others not allowed.
As concerns restricting users by IP, I believe that is a bad idea.
It's almost a useless idea, imnsho, because they can connect from
another IP.
It's easy to restrict services by IP using a firewall or by using
inetd.

Rails Best Practices Page
Hey,
I have been progressively learning more and more rails each day
(from both a current project, reading the agile book, and this list).
Does anybody think it would be beneficial to have kind of like a rails
"Best Practices" page that lists some of the better ways of handling
certain functions of rails (that are common in most apps) that are
both more elegant, and efficient.

Drive Designation
I keep reading on this list where drive C: is referred to as "~/.wine/drive_c"
but on my system (due to no special smarts on my part that would be
"~/.wine/dosdevices/c:" instead. Why this difference? Are the ones who post
basing their operation on an older way of doing things? The ability to use "c:"
rather than "drive_c" seems nicer IMNSHO. FWIW,

Wiki Home Page Has Spam Links
It seems the wiki-spam bot has been at work again. There are numerous
hidden links toward the top of the page that might be better gardened
out right away, if you know what I mean ;-|

Form's in the wiki
Just an idea to throw out there...
It seems that moin is capable of adding forms and mostly sane actions to
the forms. Would that be one route that we might be able to take w.r.t
lowering the bar to entry for contributors into specific wiki-segments
like the Laptop info ?
Just an idea. Not sure how it might work, or even if it will.
