swap_pager: indefinite wait buffer
My server just literally was brought to it's knees with this message
spewing on the console:
swap_pager: indefinite wait buffer: bufobj: 0, blkno: 1203133, size: 4096
(blkno and size were varying)
Some searching says that this is or was a bug. Has this been fixed
yet? If so, what should I upgrade to? I'm currently running 6.3

Re: FreeBSD PVHVM call for testing
Hi,
After some more testing I thought it would be good to put this into production for my personal server. I''ve used pvhvm_v19 and built it without debugging options and installed it on a FreeBSD 9.1 system.
I''ve run into some hiccups with 9.1 user land and a 10-CURRENT kernel, but that''s all solvable[0].
My VPS has some very limited memory (256M), but I''ve

Strange problem with... ZFS? Disk? Controller?
Hello,
I'm running FreeBSD 9.0/amd64, pure ZFS setup, one Seagate disk
ST2000NM0011 SN02 on LSI Logic (mpt) controller.
Yes, I know that running one disk on RAID controller is a bit weird, I
have to find yet if it is possible to connect disk to internal SATA
controller.
About two days ago, system became SLOW. Disk usage is constantly 100%,
and sometimes I'm getting swap_pager:

Centos 6.4 - yum update gives: Error: kernel conflicts with bfa-firmware
On trying a yum update I get the following error:
Error: kernel conflicts with bfa-firmware
yum suggests I work around the problem with --skip-broken or try running
'rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest'
Is there an accepted process for resolving this?

[PATCH] allow indefinite ForwardX11Timeout by setting it to 0
This change allows use of untrusted X11 forwarding (which is more
secure) without
requiring users to choose a finite timeout after which to refuse new
connections.
This matches the semantics of the X11 security extension itself, which
also treat a
validity timeout of 0 on an authentication cookie as indefinite.

Creating a loop with an indefinite end term
Everyone,
I'm very new to R, especially when it comes to loops and functions, so
please bear with me if this is an elementary question. I cannot seem to
figure out how to construct a loop which runs a function until a certain
value is computed. For example, say I have the following:
num = numeric (10)
num [1] = 0
for (i in 2:10) {
num [i] = num [i-1] + 5
}
This adds 5 to the

iir + Tyan S2460 + SMP problems
We're having problems with FreeBSD 5.4, 6.0, and 6.1 and an ICP Vortex
GDT8546RZ 4 port SATA RAID card in a Tyan S2460 system with dual AMD
Athlon MP 1600+ CPUs. We do not have any problems with this
configuration under FreeBSD 4.11, and we have the same ICP cards in
Tyan based Opterion system (S2882 and S4882) run with out problems
under FreeBSD 5.4 and 6.1.
We can reproduce the problem on

ZFS in front of MD3000i
We''re setting up ZFS in front of an MD3000i (and attached MD1000
expansion trays).
The rule of thumb is to let ZFS manage all of the disks, so we wanted
to expose each MD3000i spindle via a JBOD mode of some sort.
Unfortunately, it doesn''t look like the MD3000i this (though this[1]
post seems to reference an Enhanced JBOD mode....), so we decided to
create a whole bunch of

creating ZFS mirror over iSCSI between to DELL MD3000i arrays
Hi,
I''ve looked at ZFS for a while now and i''m wondering if it''s possible on a server create a ZFS mirror between two different iSCSI targets (two MD3000i located in two different server rooms).
Or is it any setup that you guys recommend for maximal data protection.
Thanks,
/Thom

Server with shorewall hangs - 2 ISP config
Hi all,
I''ve a little server, an old PIII 677 with Fedora Core 4, default kernel, and Shorewall 3.0.1. This pc is working fine, but I need to use a 2nd ISP connection; everything is working from configuration point of view, but the server, after a while (usually few hours), just hangs. Removing the 2-ISP configuration part, the problem is solved, so I''m quite sure that hangs are

iscsi and the last mile...
I have a new Dell PowerEdge 2950 running CentOS 5.0 out-of-box and a Dell
MD3000i. I am new to iscsi and, with google and included documentation,
am having a heck of a time trying to get the RAID volumes I have created
on the 3000i to be seen by the OS as usuable drives. I have printed out
SMcli and iscsiadm documentation.
I have asked on the linux-poweredge at dell.com site, too.

iSCSI / GFS shared web server file system
We currently have a MD3000i with an iSCSI LUN shared out to our apache web
server. We are going to add another apache web server into the mix using
LVS to load balance, however, I am curious how well iSCSI handles file
locking and data integrity. I have the iSCSI partition formatted as ext3.
Is my setup totally flawed and will ext3 not allow for data integrity with
multiple apache hosts

7.0-stable: a hung process - scheduler bug?
Hello!
I was trying to build OpenOffice using all of my 4 CPUs. To be able to
do other work on the machine comfortably, I ran the build under nice,

The build started at about 23:10 last night, and hung at 23:46. The
procstat output for the make's process group is:
