tracing aio syscalls
Hi all, Is there some documentation or some example on how to interpret the arg0 .. arg<n> for the aioread, aiowrite, aiowait syscalls? The system call name for all three seems to be "kaio". DTrace and shared memory id
Hello all, I saw this question about a year back in the archive[1], but with no final answer. I would like to trace shmget calls and also get the id of the shared memory segment. That script looked like[2], but we dont get the id since arg1 is the errno value. How do i access the shm id, i would need this to debug a customer problem but i don''t have time to learn it the hard

Dtrace probes for voluntary and involuntary context switches
Hi, I am profiling some workloads for the voluntary and involuntary context switches. I am interested in finding out the reasons causing these two types of context switches. As far as I understand, involuntary context switch happens on expiration of time slice or when a higher priority process comes in. While the voluntary switch generally happens when a process is waiting for I/O etc. So to

multiple lty on same panel in xyplot
I would like to use lattice graphics to plot multiple functions (or groups or subpopulations) on the same plot region, using different line types "lty" or colors "col" to distinguish the functions (or groups). In traditional graphics, this seems straightforward: First plot all the data using 'type="n"', and subsequently execute a series of "points"

Can I "upgrade" a striped pool of vdevs to mirrored vdevs?
Hi, once I created a zpool of single vdevs not using mirroring of any kind. Now I wonder if it''s possible to add vdevs and mirror the currently existing ones. Thanks, budy -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

zfs hanging during reads
Hi, I hope there''s someone here who can possibly provide some assistance. I''ve had this read problem now for the past 2 months and just can''t get to the bottom of it. I have a home snv_111b server, with a zfs raid pool (4 x Samsung 750GB SATA drives). The motherboard is a ASUS M2N68-CM (4 SATA ports) with an Athlon LE1620 single core CPU and 4GB of RAM. ZFS Locking Up periodically
I''ve recently re-installed an X4500 running Nevada b109 and have been experiencing ZFS lock ups regularly (perhaps once every 2-3 days). The machine is a backup server and receives hourly ZFS snapshots from another thumper - as such, the amount of zfs activity tends to be reasonably high. After about 48 - 72 hours, the file system seems to lock up and I''m unable to do anything

Mischeduler: Unknown reason for peak register pressure increase
I am working on a project where we are integrating an existing pre-RA scheduler into LLVM and we are trying to match our peak register pressure values with the machine instruction schedulers values while using X86. I am finding some mismatches in test cases like the one attached. The registers "AH" and "AL" are live-out but not live-in and I don't see that they are defined

severe performance problem (mail cache related?)
Hi all, we're having a bad day with email :) I have a user who was complaining of poor performance today when opening mailboxes. Total time to open the box was about 1 minute. Upon truss'ing the imap process during an open, I saw the trace quoted below at the end of the email. interactions and GAM
Dear R-users, I have 1 remark and 1 question on the inclusion of interactions in the gam function from the gam package. I need to fit quantitative predictors in interactions with factors. You can see an example of what I need in fig 9.13 p265 from Hastie and Tibshirani book (1990). It's clearly stated that in ?gam "Interactions with nonparametric smooth terms are not fully
