Winemaker - Visual Studio 6.0 package
I am trying to get a rather large C++ program written in visual studio
6.0 to work on a linux system. I have installed the wine libraries and
it runs just fine using:
wine <executable name>
However, I would like to be able to compile the program using
winemaker on my linux box. Winemaker runs smoothly. However, the
makefile generated by Winemaker in the root directory has all kinds of

BIG Problems with compiling DELPHI projects on SAMBA shares
Hello,
we have a problem here. We are using Samba 1918p10 on Solaris 2.5.1 on
Sun servers and Solarisx86 on pc servers with many, many NT 4.0/sp3
clients. Working great with different applications (Office, SPSS, and
many others), now we installed Delphi 3.0, and if students are trying to
compile Delphi projects on samba home share we have big problems.

Introductory statistics and introduction to R
Hi,
I have a bright, diligent second-year graduate student who wants to
learn statistics and R and will, in effect, be taking a tutorial from me
on these subjects. (If you've seen some of my questions on this list,
please don't laugh.) As an undergrad he majored in philosophy, so this
will be his first foray into computer programming and statistics.
I'm thinking of having him use

Help with booting dom0 on a Dell 2950
Hi, I have installed b_78 on a Dell 2950 and booting to bare metal works fine but when I try to boot using the grub entry Solaris xVM it will boot to the point where it displays the uname info and then just stays there. It will not boot past that point. I have enabled VT technology in the BIOS (but only after the installation).
Where/what can I look at to trouble shoot this? I am new to xen and

Can't compile 3.4.0 Binary on solarisx86
Hello lists
I have tried to compile 3.0.4 binary on x86 versions of x86.
I attached first 100 lines of config.log. It shows details of my
environment.
I think configuer works fine.
But after I typed make command, some errors appeared.
Does anyone have ideas of fix this problems? or Don't you have the
instance of compiled on solaris10 OS.

ZFS with Memory Sticks

I''ve formated with the ZFS file system. Works great on all my Solaris

my Sparc machine (Blade 2500), works great there now, but not on

Wine error "sysi86: Invalid Argument"?
Hi,
I'm a newbie, and maybe doing something stupid, but am trying to
follow the User's Guide and am getting nowhere.
I've tried both the Blastwave "Mature Vintage" (2005/04/19) and the
"Blended" (2005/07/25), and when I try to run 'winecfg' or 'wine' itself,
I get:

gzip compression throttles system?
I just had a quick play with gzip compression on a filesystem and the
result was the machine grinding to a halt while copying some large
(.wav) files to it from another filesystem in the same pool.
The system became very unresponsive, taking several seconds to echo
keystrokes. The box is a maxed out AMD QuadFX, so it should have plenty
of grunt for this.
Comments?

SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months
but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed.
I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share.
When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for
password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is
Denied" when you try to access the

I'm testing a predictor and I produced nice performance plots with ROCR
package utilizing the 3 standard command
pred <- prediction(predictions, labels)
perf <- performance(pred, measure = "tpr", x.measure = "fpr")
plot(perf, col=rainbow(10))
The pred object and the perfo object are S4

Occasional storm of xcalls on segkmem_zio_free
So I have this dual 16-core Opteron Dell R715 with 128G of RAM attached
to a SuperMicro disk enclosure with 45 2TB Toshiba SAS drives (via two
LSI 9200 controllers and MPxIO) running OpenIndiana 151a4 and I''m
occasionally seeing a storm of xcalls on one of the 32 VCPUs (>100000
xcalls a second). The machine is pretty much idle, only receiving a
bunch of multicast video streams and
