Base R wilcox.test gives incorrect answers, has been fixed in DescTools, solution can likely be ported to Base R
While using the Hodges Lehmann Mean in DescTools (DescTools::HodgesLehmann),
I found that it generated incorrect answers (see

Bug in wilcox.test
There is a fairly new bug in wilcox.test in R-2.2.1 (stable).
It wasn't there when I last taught nonparametrics in fall 2003.

Difference Between R: wilcox.test and STATA: signrank
This is my first post to the mailing list and I guess it's a pretty stupid
question but I can't figure it out. I hope this is the right forum for these
kind of questions.
Before I started using R I was using STATA to run a Wilcoxon signed-rank

[?] RPM install problems (Linux)
When I try to install the R RPM under Mandrake Linux 7.1 (intel),
I get the following error:

Improvement of SignRank functions
I took some time and liberty and tried to improve
existing implementation of SignRank functions
in R. (dsignrank, ...)
As I have seen they've been based on csignrank.
So I modified csignrank and, I believe,
improved calculation time and memory efficiency.
The idea is basically the same. I use the same recursion
as original author used with one slight modification.

What's the Edgeworth expansion of a random vector
Dear R users,
I have a statistical question regarding on the Edgeworth expansion of a random vector.
Assume x is a d-dimensional random vector, and
whats the expression of its Edgeworth expansion up to order 4?
I only get the formulation for a scalar random variable.
So anyone can help me out on this problem?

cwilcox - new version
I?ve been looking at this for a couple hours--it ended up being trickier than I expected to implement well.
I?ve attached a new patch here. This version scales significantly better than the existing method for both `pwilcox` and `dwilcox`. Examples are included below.
I can?t think of any other ways to improve runtime at this point. That?s not to say there aren?t any, though?I?m hopeful

problem getting R 2.3.1 svn r38481 to pass make check-all
Hi,
I noticed this problem on my home desktop running FC4 and again on my
laptop running FC5. Both have previously compiled and passed make
check-all on 2.3.1 svn revisions from 10 days ago or so. On both these
machines, make check-all is consistently failing (4 out of 4 attempts on
the FC 4 desktop and 3 out of 3 on the FC 5 laptop) in the
p-r-random-tests tests. This is with both default

R under Red Hat Linux 6.0
I have just upgraded from Red Hat Linux 5.2 to version 6.0 (with
GNOME) on an intel box. I have also upgraded to the latest R version
(0.64.1-2 rpm) and have also installed the corresponding GNOME rpm.

Edgeworth expansions
Hi All,
I am trying to estimate a functional form in terms of cumulants /
moments from the results of a MC simulation. My first idea was to use an
Edgeworth expansion, but this looks pretty difficult to implement.
Before I go ahead and write some code to do this, could anyone tell me
if this has already been done, and which package I could find it in if
it has?

How to test the difference between paired correlations?

I have three numerical variables and I would like to test if their
correlation is significantly different.
I have seen that there is a package that "Test the difference between
two (paired or unpaired) correlations".

simultaneous confidence intervals for multinomial proportions: sample size
Hello!
I want to calculate simultaneous confidence intervals for a nominal variable with three categories: "yes", "no", "partially" and I expect that far more than 5 samples fall into each category.
I have read that Glaz & Sison's method is only appropriate for variables with 7 or more categories. Therefore, the Goodman method seems like a good idea.

installing R under RH Linux 5.2
I am trying to install R under Red Hat Linux 5.2, but the
following error happens:
