N00b question...but here it goes
Hey all,
How can I call a javascript function from my controller?
Is it possible to simply call a javascript function
from directly in the controller without needing an AJAX
request to come through via link_to_remote or remote form?
I''m not talking through an RJS link_to_remote AJAX etc.
As an example I''ve tried:
class RandomController < ApplicationController

Blank map?
Hey all,
I''m a little frustrated here. The controls for the Google Map show up,
but the map itself seems to either never appear or to briefly flicker
onto screen, then to disappear.
My controller is simply this:
@map = GMap.new("map_div")
@map.control_init(:large_map => true, :map_type => true)
@map.center_zoom_init([0, 0], 6)
and my view is this:

session[:gmap].center_zoom_init([38.134557,-95.537109],4)

Event listeners
Hello.. I am playing around on a pilot project with this wonderful
Rails plugin.... thanks for sharing it w us !
I read in a post , in reply to this subject yjat :
Events are possible. Either through the @map.record_init "azeazeae" (for
arbitrary events like domlistener) or through the
@map.event_init(@map,:click,"function(){alert(''HOYOYO'');}").

Your plugin is really great! Thanks.
One more little question.
Is it possible to add event listeners to the maps via your plugin?

Problems w/ before_filter getting ignored
Hello,
I''m setting up an authentication module that will be called from
application.rb. I want to save a rrequest.request_uri into a
session to be used as a place holder that
will take users back to the page they were on before they logged in.
I''m trying to call the store_location method for all methods EXCEPT
login by putting login in an except before filter.

IvyGIS --- Rails Engine for custom maps.
Hi. I''m announcing a Rails Engine for presenting maps based on your
own data, either rendered by Mapserver, or pulled directly out of
geometric database tables stored by PostGIS. There''s a demo here:
http://ivygis.mgxkernel.com:3000/canada
which shows a tiled, draggable version of a Mapserver demo map, with

The step definition for this is confounding me. In the

Handling return from modal pages on rails
Hi List,
I didn''t like the way store_location worked in rails. It doesn''t know
you''ve pushed the "back" button, and it always returns to the top of a
page. On a large page, the part you were looking at would no longer be
on the screen.
People try to deal with this using an AJAX hack, but it seems to me that
the proper way to fix it is to store the return

SHLG and lib dir
Slowly figuring out how to get my SaltedHashLoginGenerator stuff working. The wiki page
says to put "before_filter :login_required" in the user (my "user" is "member") controller
or in ApplicationController. However, wherever I put it I get NoMethodError.
The rest of the SHLG stuff seems to be working... or at least I could get to the signup
page, register, and

puppetmaster fails to start using dist puppet.conf file
I''m having an issue with the default puppet.conf distributed with puppet 2.6.4 (FreeBSD port). I''ve reproduced the problem with a completely fresh install on a completely fresh OS in a VM. Under these conditions, running puppetmaster with no config is fine, but simply moving the puppet.conf-dist file to puppet.conf causes the following errors on console:

Login generator question
Hello
I''m using the login generator on my application, and I found a problem
with it.
My application is a rack inventory thing, which shows a rack with
machines and KVMs and you can click on a rack item to show/edit/destroy
it. The edit and destroy actions are protected by the login generator.
Now say a user clicks on "destroy" for some machine. He''ll be shown the
