I tried using "include" and "require" and using namespaces, but I got "undefined method". What is the way to do it? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Pagination - why is it this hard?
Hi everyone, I''m at the end of my rope on this. I can''t get pagination to work with anything but a standard find on a model. If I try to do a search and customize the pagination, I get lots of different variations. My thought was to have the list action do what it does, but to pass it a list of search conditions from the search action. So, if search determines that we need

absolute urls in url_for vs. link_to
In both url_for and link_to, the :only_path param can be used to determine whether the link url used is complete with hostname and path, or just has the path (a kind of relative url). However, in url_for it defaults to false (urls with hostnames), and in link_to it defaults to true ( urls without hostnames, just paths). Is there any reason for this discrepency? To me, it violates the principle

Links on the left hand side - are components necessary?
Hello, Maybe this is super-trivial... I need to have a list of links on the left hand side of my application, for *every* single page. So, I''ve created a layout called "main" (main.rhtml) under view/layouts, and included >layout "main"< in pretty all of my controllers. main.rhtml has, amongst all the other HTML stuff: <%= render_component

spec''ing helpers that use controller
Hi all, I''m in the process of creating rspecs for my helpers. One of the helpers in app/helpers/application_helper.rb looks like this: def page_name @page_name || "Define @page_name in #{controller.controller_name}::#{controller.action_name}" end The rspec is simply: it "should something" do page_name end

helper spec not finding rails core helpers
Hi, My helper specs were going ok until I added a call to a rails DateHelper method in one of my helpers http://api.rubyonrails.com/classes/ActionView/Helpers/ DateHelper.html#M000574 The helper runs fine from my view templates, just dies in the spec test. I boiled my question down to a simple (not too useful) example. I''m not sure what I''m missing. #
