date_select for valid days only. No Feb 30
I am looking for some advice on how to make a date select display only
valid days of the year. The standard date helper allows for you to
choose 31 days for every month of the year. Since not all months have
31 days this can lead to invalid date entries for scheduling.
I am thinking that an approach where I have a drop down for month and
then use AJAX or normal client side javascript to

Revised 2005 proposal for meta-data
Hello to all!
This is the revised 2005 proposal for meta-data, much more in detail:
http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.md
http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.html
http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.pdf
I wait for comments.
At the end of the document, there are some open issues.
And I need a regexp wizard to look over the "grammar" section.

How to fetch the previous or next record
Hello,
Is there some built-in facility for fetching the Previous or Next record
from a table? Assume the command find_by_name has been issued, and the
variable @name contains the name "John Doe". I''m looking for something
like find_next(@name) and find_previous(@name). What''s a good way to
pursue if one has to roll their own methods?
Thanks for the help,

controlling the x axis of boxplots
v 2.0.1 (sooooh old!) on Win2k
I think I know the answer to this but I can hope ...
I have data for continuous variables (measures of residents) by a
categorical variable in range (1,22), the units in which they live.
I want to plot these data with a pair of boxplots one above another
with same x-axis (1,22) using par(mfrow=c(2,1)) and then plotting
first for the women then for the men.

DHH''s Post on Ruby Talk -- Rails 1.1.5: Mandatory security patch (and other tidbits)
We''re still hard at work on Rails 1.2, which features all the new
dandy REST stuff and more, but a serious security concern has come to
our attention that needed to be addressed sooner than the release of
1.2 would allow. So here''s Rails 1.1.5!
This is a MANDATORY upgrade for anyone not running on a very recent
edge (which isn''t affected by this). If you have a public

Recursion error after upgrade to R_2.11.1 [Sec=Unclassified]
Hi all,
After an upgrade from R_2.10.1 to R_2.11.1 I am now getting the following error:
Error: evaluation nested too deeply: infinite recursion / options(expressions=)?
This occurs in the initialize method of S4 classes where I was initialising attributes eg:
.Object[['realtimeState']] <- list()
I can avoid this new error by altering the code to do:
.Object$realtimeState <-

Tutorial for Queries
Hi! I''m looking for a good tutorial that explains the main points of
performing queries with Rails. I do have AWDWR and have read the
section on ''find'' but I''m looking for something that goes into more
detail on how to perform queries across tables.
Abstracted from my current application, this is an example:

Engines question
I would like to get at all models in a rails application to be able to
add a field to every one of them as part of a migration. Something
like the following:
Appmodels.each { |x| add_column x.table_name.to_s, :foo, :text }
I understand I can get the table name using
ActiveRecord::Base#table_name, but how do I get all the models into an
array that I can use in the above manner?

LDAP Filter Problem
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I am having trouble
getting LDAP and samba working properly on my Debian Woody box. I am using
OpenLDAP 2.0.27-3 and the unsable packaged Samba version 2.999+3.0 and am
using the samba.schema for my LDAP database.
Whenever I try to join the network using either W2K or smbclient the LDAP

Migration?
I just installed ruby, lighttpd, and mysql from darwinports on me
laptop in lieu of the Apple version of ruby. Now when I fire up my
rails application, it''s not running lighttpd anymore -- it''s running
webrick. It also exits immediately. MySQL is running, the database
and tables are restored from the backup. What step am I missing?
Thanks for the help!

Embed R, and provide a function to user scripts
Hello,
I'm not sure how to go about this. Suppose I have a function
SEXP boo(SEXP x){
//do something
}
Also, I have an executable which embeds R in itself. I would like to provide
a R function to user code to call that calls 'boo' e.g
##user supplied expression that is given to me
x<-1
boo(x)
One way is to create a library with function boo that performs .Call to boo,
but is

Finding the entry point function in a LLVM IR
Thank You David and Mats for the reply,
The reason I need to know that main is the entry point is as follows :
I have a dead code elimination pass that removes the function call for boo.
boo was initially called from the main function , but since the return in
the main function has no dependency on boo, boo function call is removed.
Now I want to remove the function definition of the functions
