PXELinux 3.11 vs 3.36
Hi, Apologies in advance if this is rather long winded ... I have a Windows 2000 DHCP/FTP/TFTP server, serving up a linux-based diags package using PXELinux. Everything is working fine, just like I'd expect. I also have some WinImage images of DOS floppy disks that I'd also like to serve via PXE. So I made up some simple menus using menu.c32 to serve both the floppy image and the

[PXELinux 5.01] BUG: "unable to locate configuration file" if directory tftpboot/syslinux exists
Hi, I'm using PXELinux (on Windows NT5.x, with Windows NT5.x tftpd and the PXE server included in the "Windows XP Embedded Remote Boot Server"). This works well here since more than 10 years now. Recently I created a subdirectory "syslinux" in my "tftpboot" ... and PXELINUX failed with the message "unable to locate configuration file". Renaming that

pxelinux tftp timeout
Hi, I was looking through the archives and wiki for something related to this, but all I keep coming up with are options for the prompt timeout and user input. Is there a way to change the default timeout for tftp in pxelinux? The be more specific, we use IP in HEX to network boot and it takes a very long time for pxelinux to timeout on GUID and MAC, before finally getting to HEX and

pxelinux and syslinux configuration files
Am I wrong to believe that pxelinux can't use syslinux configurtion files as is? I have a syslinux/isolinux setup that works fine in those environments, lets me boot a root file system based on different criteria. However, when I moved it over to pxelinux, i'm able to have it get an ip address over dhcp, fetch pxelinux.0 over tftp and seemingly fetch 'default' from

problem booting (Fedora) LiveCD ISO over PXELINUX
This is an issue I've researched quite a bit on bug lists, and looked in the Syslinux Wiki for a way to do this, but haven't yet found a solution. 1) I have an existing Fedora 13 LiveCD which I burned to a CD and tested on a system without issue. 2) I then took that same ISO and dropped it in my pxelinux.cfg/default for being able to boot over the network. I made sure to extract the

PXELINUX memory overwrite bug - SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 released
Hi everyone, Kevin Tran of Broadcom just identified a very serious bug in PXELINUX where random parts of the PXE stack would get overwritten by PXELINUX. As a result, I have release SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 for testing; if you have had problems with PXELINUX **PLEASE** test this version. I will try to make a SYSLINUX 2.00 some time this week if this tests out OK. I will also hunt for similar bugs

Configuration guide for Syslinux/PXElinux neede.
Hello guys, Sorry to make noise in the group, but I had really hard time finding how to configure PXELinux to my requirements, despite reading everything available on syslinux.zytor.com and combing google for config examples for your beast. Also, did browse the source code, but good luck to understand what is there in half a day... The boot loader is really nice, but may please someone

timeout: retrying... with atftpd and pxelinux
I'm trying to network boot a thin client using pxelinux. I had this working about a year ago but have since reinstalled my OS (went from RH9 to FC2). I'm using atftpd. The thin client gets the dhcp address fine and requests pxelinux.0. Eventually, it just times out. Here's the relevant info from /var/log/messages: Oct 7 23:14:36 home atftpd[4717]: Advanced Trivial FTP server started

Is it possible to use PXELinux/SYSLinux with out changing DHCP Server settings ?
Hi, We have some 100 Servers (includes both Intel and PPC based systems). Is there any way to easly install OS (different flavours of Linux) on these systems ? We do not have control over the DHCP Server settings so is there any way to do this with out touching the DHCP Server ? We have static IPs for all the systems. Regards, Naveen

tftp file size limit: pxelinux.0 vs. syslinux.efi
Hello, I am pxebooting a large linux kernel (with embedded initramfs) that is around 250 MB in size. When booting a board in legacy BIOS mode, the pxelinux.0 executable is transferred to the board and takes over, from where loading and booting this large kernel works as expected. Actually, better than expected, as no tftp file size limit is incurred. If I change the BIOS settings to UEFI mode,

tftp with pxelinux.0 from syslinux 4.10-pre17
Hello everybody, setting up a netboot server for a really huge network I decided to go with what will be syslinux 4.10 to get support for http transfers. The setup works on my notebook, booting another notebook directly connected. However it fails with a more complex setup: A virtual machine on the second notebook bridged to the ethernet device does not boot, systems from other networks with a

pxelinux.bin (3.80) hanging at the beginning of menu.c32 TFTP transfer
Hi, Using syslinux 3.80, I'm seeing pxelinux.bin hanging after the (succesfull) transfer of the default file. Running a lan trace, it appears that all goes fine until the time pxelinux sends a TFTP RRQ for menu.c32 to the TFTP server, gets the first data packet back, and apparently freezes at this point. The TFTP server then times out and retries (3 times) then finally sends an error packet
