xrandr or xorg.conf... help with virtual size desktop
I've come at this a few different ways on this list and others. But not
really getting a solution. Possibly there is none until some changes
are made upstream.
Setup: Debian Wheezy (testing) 3.0.0-1-686-pae
Video card: Nvidia XF 5700LE
Older P4 intel cpu 3.06 (single core)
(Using Nouveau driver)
My aim is to create a large pannable desktop either with use of
xorg.conf or xrandr.

NV43: Native resolution not available on Dell 2007FP
I have a Dell 2007FP monitor. NV43 (GeForce 6600) can not use the native
resolution.
1600x1200 is listed under "DDC gathered Modelines" with the rest of the
info, but then is missing from "probed modes".
I have a secondary card, NV4a (GeForce 6200, PCI). It works with this
card. This card does not show "DDC gathered modelines" at all, and
1600x1200 is listed

CH7007A (AKA CH7006) TV OUT Support for NV11 (NVidia GeForce2 Go Dell I8K Laptop)
After analyzing verbose nouveau & drm dmesg, I have found seemingly no more
useful details pertaining to having no TV-1 device. The TV-1 device might be
getting lost within DRM, by setting the TV-1 (SVIDEO, Composite) device into
DPMS mode or Full Power Down mode, and the ch7006 datasheet does say in this
mode, all but the i2c circuits are disabled! Looking at

limited resolution on DVI and HDMI at the same time
I got 1920x1200 at 59.95Hz via DVI and 3840x2160 at 60.00Hz via HDMI at the
same time with the proprietary nvidia driver.
I get flickering on the 1920x1200 at 59.95 with the nouveau driver (it
doesn't flicker if I lower it to 1920x1080 at 59.96).
Any idea why?

regression? no more separate xscreens
Dear Devs,
The support for multiple xscreens (i.e. no xinerama, just separate :0.0
and :0.1 displays) in nouveau is broken.
It would be great if someone could confirm this. It is easily done, by
commenting the "xinerama" option from the xorg.conf file:
https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/MultiMonitorDesktop/
With the nvidia proprietary drivers separate xscreens work fine. Could

R Java compile problem
Hi folks: I'm trying to update my JGR and related packages, but run
into a compile problem, that I suspect must be affecting others. I
get this output when compiling rJava, JavaGD, etc.:

Trouble with X and vnc-4.0-8.1.i386 on Centos 4.4
I have recently migrated from an old, RedHat Linux 9 - based system (Aurox
9.2) to Centos 4.4.
I am having trouble with vnc causing X unusable until reboot.
By unusable I mean that X screen is either blank or blinking and moving, which
is not cured by X restart until reboot.
My system is:

Strange behavior in X, esp. VMWare Windows
Last Thursday, for some reason (possibly a power failure), my work
desktop had a different video configuration than when I left Wednesday
evening. I have two 17" flat panels configured as a two-head wide
(side-by-side) single display. When I arrived on Thu, I had two
individual desktops instead, the resolution was down to 800x600, and
so on. The monitor type had been reset to generic

LUT update skipped on first modeset?
Hi Ben,
I was looking into some of the LUT-related modesetting issues. I've
noticed the following... after I load nouveau, one of my secondary
GPUs shows this on first modeset (with drm.debug=4):

Firefox 3, Sun jre1.6.0_12_x86_64 and enabling a plugin
SOMEbody on this list must have this combination working by now.
How does one enable the firefox jre plugin for Sun's x86_64
distribution? Every site that I can find refers to making a link to
a now non-existent plugins directory under the jre installation
directory. The official firefox plugin pages refers to the
existence of a Sun x86_64 jre but provides no details on how to
enable it.

Any known problems using xrandr with Nouveau
Running Debian Wheezy
Hardware: Older P4 3.06 GHz
video: Nvidia FX 5700LE
Monitor is 25.5 asus LCD with 1900x1280 native resolution.
(xrander sees it as 1400x900)
(I've included the output of xrandr -q at the end, also following that
output is Xorg.0.log)
I recently made some effort to obtain a large pannable desktop like I
have used for many years. And since on newer debian they expect to
