Return code for running stories
Hi all!
Just wrote a few stories and committed code to a project of mine,
then realized I made a mistake (with the commit, not the code or
tests). It would be nice to put the script
that runs the stories as a pre-commit hook, preventing the commit
from succeeding if the stories fail.
For that, I need to set the right exit code.
In turn, I need to know he result of the tests.

Who''s using --format rdoc
I''m doing some housekeeping and just realised that the rdoc formatter
produces gibberish:
http://rspec.rubyforge.org/rdoc/files/EXAMPLES_rd.html
Will anyone protest if I just go ahead and remove it? (I can''t imagine
anyone using it, especially with the much better HTML formatter)

Canonical way to generate RSpec HTML report in Rails app
Hi!
I was just wondering how you typically generate a spec HTML report in
a Rails app. Currently I''m doing something like this:
spec spec -f h:spec/spec_report.html
But that seems sort of clumsy and I would have thought that there was
a rake task for it. Have I overlooked something?
Thanks!

patch for html display
All,
I''ve found that the html view for the rspec formatter falls to pieces with
Rails 2.02 and rspec 1.10. Has anyone else run into this trouble?
Here''s a monkey patch that fixes the problem. A more elegant fix would be
in order, but this gets the job done:

heres how to get color output in rspec_autotest with rspec 0.7.5
In case anyone else is trying to make this work, here is what I did
(Before 0.7.4 I had patched the regex in zentest redgreen, but that
is not used any more)
To use directly, it is very simple. In rspec_autotest/lib/
rspec_autotest.rb, add a -c to the spec_command in the initializer
function:
@spec_command = "spec -c --diff unified"
This won''t help however if you want

Problems when programmatically defining examples
Hi,
I am trying to code an application that is based on Rspec; I am
programmatically building examples, and launching the runner with a custom
formatter. Here are the code snippets from my app:
Launching the runner:
example_groups =
test_expectation.example_groups_for(system_state)
@output = StringIO.new

Autospec does not work w/ cucumber features?

spec_ui problems
While looking into spec_ui, I decided to run the examples.
The watir example works a little, but always chokes on the ''better
than fudge'' spec (failure output below). Also, is there any command
to pause the "browser"? If my connection slows, the test gets out of
whack.
The selenium example fails right away (output below). I do have the

"rake spec:doc" returns NO NAME (due to --dry-run) for each specify block
I went ahead and moved to the trunk versions of RSpec and Spec:Rails because
I wanted to try out the new Story Runner feature. However, when I tried to
do "rake spec:doc", I got the following:
AccountController
- NO NAME (Because of --dry-run)
AccountHelper
- NO NAME (Because of --dry-run)
User (in general)
- NO NAME (Because of --dry-run)

spec.opts: questions about formatters, etc.
Questions concerning spec.opts:
1. Am I correct in believing that each option should go on a
separate line of spec.opts in the rails spec directory? If this is
so, why is it so?
2. Using a formatter in spec.opts doesn''t seem to work. Here is my
spec.opts file:
--colour
-f s
and this is what happens when I run the rake task:

Going beyond the default html formatter/report?
Hi!
I wonder does anybody planning to go beyond the default html formatter/report?
The current html report is nice and green but what about to go a
little silly and enable also user input. For example to let customer
to add a new pending spec, comments etc. I feel it might be mentally
easier for some customers to jump into spec world when it is possible
to give input at "the same

Hiding the passes
How do you hide all the green passing examples from the output?
I don''t need to know what has passed and it means I have to scroll to
see what has failed.

Programmatically counting RSpec tests?
If I have an object `obj` that is a SpecTask, and subsequently invoke
it, is there a way to programmatically determine the number of tests
that were successful, failed, and pending as a result of running that
SpecTask?

RC1, Rails, and problems with multiple options in spec.opts
I am having inconsistent output with multiple options in the
spec.opts file. I can, for instance, pass --color or --colour, or,
separately, use --drb. But when combining them I get:
/opt/local/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1381:in `complete'': invalid
option: --options --color --drb (OptionParser::InvalidOption)
from /opt/local/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1379:in `catch''
