using highlight from aaf
Hi,
I''m trying to use highlight ferret method with trunk aaf and 0.10.1
ferret.
In my search display I use:
Myindexedclass.ferret_index.searcher.highlight(@query, result_line.id,
:content)
* searcher is a protected method; how can I access to the searcher from
aaf ?
* is the doc id in aaf the same as my model id ?
* is the first param, query, the string query or the query object ?

[AAF] acts_as_ferret 0.4.0 released
Hi folks!
Just wanted to let you know that I released aaf 0.4.0 on last weekend.
Besides the DRb server it also includes a new lazy loading feature that
lets you do ferret searches without actually loading any records from the
DB. Useful e.g. for live searches:
model:
class MyModel
acts_as_ferret :fields => { :title => { :store => :yes }, :content => {} }
end

AAF: find_by_contents on AR Association Total Hits
I seem to be getting some behaviour thats unexpected (for me anyway)
when using find_by_contents on an ActiveRecord has_many association. The
results that are returned are only the records that belong to the model
returned, but the total_hits that are being returned appear to be for
the whole table.
e.g.
class Book < AR::Base
has_many :pages
end
class Page < AR::Base
belongs_to :book

First steps towards a simple text stream format.
Hello everyone!
This list may not be entirely appropriate discussion, but in the lack of
ogg@xiph.org or ogg-dev@xiph.org this will have to do.
I've been thinking for a few weeks that Ogg needs a simple text stream
(read subtitle) format to go along with theora. This is important,
because otherwise I can't transcode fellowship of the rings while
keeping the elvish-speek, unless I render

aaf and dynamic attrs: a bug?
Hi!
I faced some issue while using it for dynamic attrs indexing/search.
Maybe I made something wrong. Here is test method. Everything works just
fine until last line http://pastie.caboo.se/66274 . Tested on both
stable and trunk of aaf and ferret 0.11.4.
the short version of code below:

Is aaf multi_search broken?
Hi all,
I want to use acts_as_ferret''s multi_search to search two model classes
(Reviewable and Blog) at a time like
@results = Reviewable.multi_search("jemen", [Blog])
and I''m always getting the error
You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!
You might have expected an instance of Array.
The error occurred while evaluating nil.map

[fields:image.plot] subtitle under title (not image)?
summary: how to make image.plot print a subtitle between the title and
the image, rather than under the image?
details:
I've got a project
https://github.com/TomRoche/ioapi-hack-R
that illustrates the use of (et al) the R packages {ncdf4, fields, M3}
for processing and visualizing IOAPI data. The data being visualized
consists of a series of layers (mostly representing emissions from a

How to search with range when I am using AAF
acts_as_ferret :fields => {
:name => {:},
:desc => {},
:start_date => {}
}
def start_date
self.start_datetime.strftime("%Y%m%d")

Now that I am strong start_date in YYYYMMDD format, I want to search for

What will my query look like when I am using aaf. This one doesn''t work

Fw: Re: title problem
It seems that there is a problem in
displaying subtitle in general, independently from
multi-plot display. when I do
plot (c(1,2,3), c(9,8,7), type = "l")
title(main = "Main title", sub ="Sub title",cex.main=2,
cex.sub = 2)
subtitle doesn't get displayed

sorting results with aaf multi_search
Is it possible to sort the result of acts_as_ferret multi_search the
way you can with find_contents?
I''m using the latest ferret and aaf. I have an interface that offers
multiple search options which search different fields of a single model.
In addition to these, I also have an "all" search type which is meant to
pull in one additional model and consider all indexed

Choosing subtitle language
I am wondering how negotiating about text subtitles is supposed to work in Theora?
(1) Will it be like the server first transmit a list of available languages, and then it's up to the client to possibly pick a language, either automatically or by user interaction, and then ask the server for that particular subtitle stream?
(2) Or will all subtitle streams be sent simultaneously and

plots: layout + subtitles
Hello,
I want to create a figure that consists of a collection of 16 graphs on
4 rows. I am using
nf <- layout(matrix(seq(1,16), 4,4, byrow=TRUE), respect=TRUE)
boxplot(...
to create the layout of my 16 graphs. It works really well. However, I'd
like to add sub-titles that would apply to each row of 4 graphs. More
specifically, I'd like to have something like:

how to index and search multiple foreign keys in aaf
Let''s say I have a class Job that has a series of possible locations
that are stored as a sequence of foreign keys
class Job
acts_as_ferret {
:locations => {}
}
def locations
"1,25,23,15"
# ??
end
end
Is that a good way to store the location ids?
How would I search for Jobs in a certain location
Job.find_by_contents(''locations(25)'')
cheers

AAF Sorting by date - what am I doing wrong?
I''m trying to sort my search results by Date, in descending order. I''ve
done quite a bit of reading through the forums here, and I''ve tried two
different suggestions.
This just returns results in the same order as a search without a sort:
sort_fields = []
sort_fields <<
Ferret::Search::SortField.new("ferret_created_at",:reverse => :true)

Titles - main and subtitle won't plot with errbar
Hi, I'm struggling with errbar graphics.
I'm trying to plot an x-y graph with correct labelling, however can't seem
to get main and sub to show on my graph.

at lot messier,I'll have to blank out ylab=" " , and I need to try and get
the titles to update automatically according to my

AaF not indexing models when no index present in multi_searc
The first time I tried to run a multi_search, I got an error and
discovered there were no indexes for any of the models. index > model
folders were there but no actual indexes. I couldn''t figure out how to
get it to create indexes so I edited a record for each model which
created all the indexes. Then when I ran the search, everything worked
well.
Is there a bug related to this

Strange indexing issues with CachedModel, STI, and AAF
I started using robotcoop''s CachedModel class in my project but have encountered problems when using it with the acts_as_ferret plugin. It seems it doesn''t index everything in my STI model, also if I do a search from my base STI class I get a result count but no results. If I run the same search from one of the children STI models I get the appropriate results (if the information
