Software RAID CentOS4
Hi, I have a system with two IDE controllers running RAID1. As a test I powered down, removed one drive (hdc), and powered back up. System came up fine, so powered down installed a new drive (hdc) And powered back up. /proc/mdstat indicatd RAID1 active with hda only. I thought it would Auto add the new hdc drive... Also when I removed the new drive and added The original hdc, the swap partitions

raidtab on centos 4
Hi There, I re-installed Centos 4 on a box previously running x86 Solaris 10. After a reboot a got a BAD PBR SIG so I used rescue mode and grub to install a boot loader on each of my software-raided disks. Which works fine and allows me to boot ok. My question is, what happened to /etc/raidtab the machine boots ok and lists all the raid-1 devices I set up in the install (including the

Debian Sarge Root Raid + LVM + XEN install guide (LONG)
Hello fellow xenophiles and happy new year! I''ve documented the install procedure for a prototype server here since I found no similar document Anywhere on the net. It''s a Sarge-based Domain0 on linux root raid from scratch, using LVM to store the data for the domU mail server and its mailstore. I humbly submit my notes in the hope that they are useful to some weary traveller.

mdadm quandary
Hello, I wonder if has seen a problem of the sorts I am describing as at the moment it is driving me nuts. We have an array of LSI disks (Hardware Raid 5) which are attached to a Linux node. The Node has a LSI929 dual fibre channel card that has a channel attached to controller A and B of the array. So we have a list of devices under /proc/partitions mapping what we are expecting to see

ocfs, multi path and raid
HI all, I hope someone can give me some insight on this. I have finally gotten a RAC database up and running on the RedHat AS 2.1 Linux cluster using OCFS 1.0.9.4. My XP admin has given dual luns to the drives in which my database sits. So the question comes up how do I do this? Using software raid? on the host os'es: xpinfo -il Device File ALPA Tgt Lun Port CU:LDev

ext3 + raid, is resize2fs neccessary?
Consider this section: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO-4.html#ss4.14 I have not done this before and I'm leary about Step 11 which is resizing the filesystem after doing a mkraid command. This howto lacks any ext3 documentation. Some questions I have are: 1. Should I convert back to ext2 on all my filesystems before I do a mkraid? 2. If I leave the system at ext3, will the

Wine 0.9.9 appears to terminate without notification
I use Wine to run Pegasus Mai (PM). I have had very little trouble with this since Wine changed to Beta status. The exceptions are Wine version 0.9.5 and now 0.9.9. PM terminates without notification when I send a message by means of PM when the Wine version is 0.9.9. Fortunately the message that triggers the termination does get out so all I have to do is restart PM but this is, of course, a

[PATCH] secboot: print status message on success
Ourput an info message when secure boot has been successfully performed. This is useful when troubleshooting issues that may be caused by firmware loading being delayed - without an explicit message we have no way to know whether secure boot has been performed or not. Signed-off-by: Alexandre Courbot <acourbot at nvidia.com> --- This has been inspired by Ilia's comment on FD bug 94725.

Problem on FC3
I''m getting a VFS kernel panic when trying to booting to FC3 from Xen. Its the one that says I must supply a valid "root=" option. (sorry I don''t have it verbatim.) I''m using the xen-2.0 binary installer, kernel 2.6.9. I am using ext3fs, but I am fairly certain that I have compiled support into the kernel. (I''ve tired compile xen from the 2.0

Samba NFS Fedora Core 2 and Software Raid -- Ext3 fs got corrupted???
I'm running: Fedora Core 2 (2.6.6.1-435) Samba 3.0.3-5 My shared (raid1 mirror) data directory is: /dev/md3 (hda6,hdc6) mounted as Ext3 to /sites This is shared to 300 users as an nfs mount point to their Digital Unix workstations as well as a Samba share to their W2k PC's. My users just reported a bunch of read only error messages. Turns out, it corrupted the file system. It said

Do software raids don't dance Samba?
Hey all, well, first of all (even if it's quite late as it's in version 3.0.7 already): thanks a lot to all who are developing and supporting Samba! I'm new to Linux and I really like the way things are happening on this OS. But now, I've reached a point where I have to raise the white flag... It seems to me like - at least my - software raid can't dance Samba. I've got

Win2k/WinXP and Samba Instant Messaging
I am running Debian on a LAN. I am trying to send popup messages(Winpopup protocol) but just get the same error over and over. We have a WinXP machine named "Mindelessdemon"(He is actually a very nice guy, don't get foolled by the demon stuff), a Win2k machine called "Whitehead" and a win98 machine called "Wyrm". I cant connect to the WinXP or Win2k machine

Share an easiest way to enjoy all music/video on iPod/iPhone
As an iPod fans, I had been always troubled in putting the music/video on my iPod until I have used a best iPod video converter (http://www.4easysoft.com/ipod-video-converter.html). This is what I?d like to share with all the ipod users. Firstly, we should know what format that ipod can support: Video:MP4;H.264; MPEG-4 Audio: AAC;MP3;M4V;WAV; AIFF Picture: JPEG;BMP;GIF;TIFF;PSD Text: txt
