need help to find bug
If you insist that it is the expected output, then we have a bug in all linux distributions. All of them! For example this is latest fedora: [kasak at kasakoff ~]$ smbclient -N -L localhost Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- print$ Disk Printer Drivers share Disk IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba 4.18.3) SMB1 disabled -- no

old bug with usershares of what?
sorry for opening this thread again, but it looks like there is some bug in samba usershares. I successfully reproduced this bug in OpenBSD and in Fedora. Steps to reproduce: 1) Use default samba config. 2) Add options: usershare max shares = 5 (or else number) usershare allow guests = Yes 3) create usershares directory (personally i use directory path from testparm -v) 4) create group usershare

IE6, flash, abysmal performance
Hi all. I'm using Wine ( 1.1.4 ) to test some Flash stuff ( flex ) in IE6. IE6 runs quite well normally, but once Flash is loaded up, it goes VERY slowly indeed. I've done a quick sysprof profile ( http://entropy.homelinux.org/ie6_flash.sysprof ), and from what I can see ( and I'm most certainly no expert ), it looks like most CPU cycles are being burned in fbGetImage and fbCopyArea

The credentials conflict with an existing set of credentials
Hi all. Today my samba server, which has been working fine for quite some time, is not allowing me to mount shares on it. In Windows, I get the error: The credentials conflict with an existing set of credentials My log.smbd shows: [2005/03/21 14:26:14, 0] auth/auth_util.c:make_server_info_info3(1134) make_server_info_info3: pdb_init_sam failed! Installing MS Office problems
Greetings. I'm trying to install MS Office ( 2002 ) using wine-0.9.40. I have followed various HOWTOs floating around, including using ies4linux to pull IE and related stuff. I'm stuck on: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5163 Are there any known work-arounds? -- Daniel Kasak IT Developer NUS Consulting Group Level 5, 77 Pacific Highway North Sydney, NSW, Australia 2060 T: (+61) 2

Fatal server error: DMA queue hang
Greetings. I have an aging GeForce4 MX ( integrated ). I just updated to Ubuntu-8.10 without considering the consequences of moving to xserver-1.5. Needless to say I won't be using Compiz for a while now ... So I've tried to get nouveau drivers running ( I've been watching the project, but mainly waiting for a release ... now my hand has been forced ). I used the packages for Ubuntu

MySQL Workbench
MySQL Workbench is starting to look nice, but hasn't run on Linux for quite a while. Does anyone know if it's possible to get it running in Wine at the moment? I built 0.9.56 and tried to run MySQLWorkbench.exe from the zipped binaries. It complained about .NET. So I installed mono-1.2.6-gtksharp-2.10.2-win32-5 into wine. Now I get this in the console: fixme:spoolsv:serv_main (0 (nil))

Vampire and spaces
Hi all. I'm having another go at using the vampire functionality to move our NT4 domain to samba. I've hit the same problem as 3 years ago - spaces in names ( group names for us ). I believe there are some useradd scripts floating around that deal with this, but I can't find them ( spent 1/2 an hour on google, honest ). Does anyone have one handy? How about adding scripts like

Office XP - possible to install?
Hi all. I've *never* been able to install Office XP. I've had it running in CrossOver ( demo ), but my work is too stingy to pay for that, and yet I still want to install Office. At the moment my VirtualBox installation is becoming flaky. I've updated a fresh Ubuntu-8.04 installation to wine-1.0-rc1. I've then followed the instructions for installing on Gentoo ( install IE6 via

Domain authentication not working
Hi all. I'm trying to share a printer out via samba, and it's suddenly stopped working. Samba says it's connecting to the DC, but then returning NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER. It wasn't doing this earlier today. I haven't changed anything in the top half of the smb.conf file ... only the print-related stuff. Any ideas? The log is saying: [2007/05/21 11:40:26, 3]

cannot locate roaming profile
Hi all. I've just installed samba-3.0.1-rc1 as a PDC and I can add computers ( win2k ) to the domain, but when users log on, they get an error: ... windows cannot locate your roaming profile ... or words to that effect. My smb.conf is: # Global parameters [global] workgroup = NUS server string = Samba Server %v bind interfaces only = true interfaces =

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all. I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers' feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ). I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which basically takes your existing ppd file, and

old bug with usershares of what?
oh sorry, of course i have a typo in 6. The user usershare dir depends on system where samba was build. For example in fedora it is /var/lib/samba/usershares, and in openbsd it is /var/samba/usershares. I am sure i am doing everything right. пн, 5 нояб. 2018 г. в 19:10, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org >: > On Mon, 5 Nov 2018 18:05:09 +0300 > Илья Коскин via samba

'Account disabled due to email bouncing' madness
We have a mail filter ( CanIt, by Roaring Penguin, see http://www.roaringpenguin.com ) that is doing a very good job indeed of blocking spam and viruses. And I certainly get a lot from this list ... so much that without the use of CanIt, I would have already had to retire my email address, and possibly even our entire domain, to avoid the constant march of crap. But ... the list server keeps

Sharing a USB Printer
We're trying to share an Epson USB inkjet printer via Samba 3.0.2-7 on our new Fedora server. The share is set up OK, and can be seen and opened from Windows clients. However, although the Fedora box can print to the Epson, the Windows boxes can't. All other Samba shares, including a laser printer connected to the parallel port, work fine. Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?
