Issue with crammed Y axis
Hi, I have a data frame like this: > dput(df) structure(list(ID = 1:8, Type = c("gmx mdrun -ntmpi 8 -ntomp 1 -s benchPEP.tpr -nsteps 10000 -resethway", "gmx mdrun -ntmpi 8 -ntomp 1 -s benchPEP.tpr -nsteps 10000 -resethway", "gmx mdrun -ntmpi 8 -s benchPEP.tpr -nsteps 4000 -resetstep 3000", "gmx mdrun -ntmpi 8 -s benchPEP.tpr -nsteps 4000 -resetstep

manual parallel processing
Hi; I have a R script that includes a call to genoud(); genoud process lasts about 4 seconds, what would be OK if I hadn't have to call it about 2000 times. This yields about 2 hours of processing. And I would like to use this script operationally; so that it should be run twice a day. It seems to me that the parallel processing option included in genoud() divides the task inside the function

limiting simulated animal movement
Hi, I am trying to simulate animal movement in a gridded landscape made up of cells. At each time step (iteration), the animal moves from one cell to another in a random fashion. This is how I am simulating movement, where a and b are the x,y co-ordinates of the animal at the previous time step: for (i in 1:no.of.steps){ direction <- sample(1:8, 1) if(direction == 1){ a <- a b <- b -

Need help debugging (long)
Thanks! This is in regards to bug 3084, I am trying to find out why samba is crashing. I am using glibc-2.4 with nptl threads. It seems to be a memory or threading issue. Thanks for any help. Running smbd through gdb: Breakpoint 6, charset_name (ch=CH_DISPLAY) at lib/charcnv.c:57 57 const char *ret = NULL; (gdb) Continuing. Substituting charset 'ANSI_X3.4-1968' for

drawing half-circles
Dear wonderful R community, I've been creating color-coded concentric circles using the "points" function, but I just realized that what I would really like to do is draw color-coded concentric half-circles. (Because I want to communicate information about the diameters-- half-circles are sufficient to show diameters AND they leave ample room to one side of the figure to label

MSBVAR and hc.forecast
attempting to do multivariate modelling in R with known future conditions (in this case variable 'b') using MSBVAR and hc.forecast. The sample code (a paired down representation) does not give anywhere near the expected results - I am assuming that a forecast 8 steps out would approximate 'a' as the sequence 1.1,2.1,3.1,100.1 corresponding to the input set. I have varied the input

Folding@home Crahes Frequently
I saw the other topic posted 13 Sep 2010, about the fixme ... unimplemented error. I get that too. However, my system also crashes. I'm running Ubuntu 10.4 with Wine 1.3.1 on a AMD 1055t cpu (no overclocking) with a MSI 785G-e53 motherboard. The system is stable otherwise. This is executing the folding at home client, the Windows client beta 6.30. This is used by enough people and it

optim() not finding optimal values
I am trying to use optim() to minimize a sum-of-squared deviations function based upon four parameters. The basic function is defined as ... SPsse <- function(par,B,CPE,SSE.only=TRUE) { n <- length(B) # get number of years of data B0 <- par["B0"] # isolate B0 parameter K <- par["K"]

Gracias, como siempre, Manuel print(ggplot(legend=FALSE)+geom_path(data=map_data('world'), aes(x=long,

Package(s) for making waffle plot-like figures?
Dear all, I am trying to make a series of waffle plot-like figures for my data to visualize the ratios of amino acid residues at each position. For each one of 37 positions, there may be one to four different amino acid residues. So the data consist of the positions, what residues are there, and the ratios of residues. The ratios of residues at a position add up to 100, or close to 100 (more on

ggplot con gradientes complejos
Gracias Emilio. Manuel El

Subset dentro de un for
Gracias Marcelino. He probado el for y me da este error: Error in aes(x = lon, y = lat, color = get(GT[i]), size = 2) + scale_colour_gradient(low = ("white"), : non-numeric argument to binary operator

Labelling a fortified GADM map plotted with ggplot and geom_map
I am having trouble getting data labels to display over the provinces in a GADM map of Canada. Specifically, I need the variable "Number" from the data set "by_province", grouped by "region", to appear on the corresponding regions of the map. The data set "by_province" looks like this: long lat order hole piece region

point size
Hi all; I am running the following ggplot codes. Runs well. However, I need to reflect the numeric values of the log10_P to the point size in the graph. Your help highly appreciated, Regards, Greg p <- ggplot(mydata, aes(x = X, y = log10_P)) + theme_bw() +theme(panel.border=element_blank()) + theme(legend.position="top", axis.text=element_text(size = 8)) (p1 <- p +

How to produce rainfall maps
Dear R users, I need to produce rainfall maps using R. I know that this is possible, I looked though the web, I found the example below reported (the author is Andrew Tredennick). I would ask you if this is the most performing way to make rainfall maps; if yes would someone be able to give me an example of how file.asc and pointfile.csv should be? If no would somebody please show me another way

plotting the regression coefficients
Hi Petr and Richard; Thanks for your responses and supports. I just faced a different problem. I have the following R codes and work well. p <- ggplot(a, aes(x=Phenotypes, y=Metabolites, size=abs(Beta), colour=factor(sign(Beta)))) + theme(axis.text=element_text(size = 5)) p1<-p+geom_point() p2<-p1+theme(panel.grid.major = element_blank(), panel.grid.minor = element_blank(),
