Advise on RPM vs. Compiling source
Hi, Need some advice on installing postfix in CentOS4. Which is better, installing by yum or rpm -i or by compiling from source code? What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of each. Checkinstall rpm for CentOS-6 x86_64?
I cannot seem to find a checkinstall rpm package for CentOS-6 or one for x86_64 more recent than CentOS4. When I try to build it locally from the most recent source I can find, c.2006, I get build errors having to do with size constants either missing or improperly defined. Does anyone have a source for an rpm of this package that runs on CentOS-6_x86_64 or can recommend a replacement for it?

If possible, I want to use RPM based installation for easy maintenance and also based on your suggestions from my

OT: Ping failed
Hi, The Ping service in Nagios has "unknown" status which was previously OK, this happens after i messed up some of the files owner and accidentally change it to Apache. Although I restored most of the file permission back to Root, the problem above still appears which I suspect is due to permission. Does anybody have idea where to look at.
