Odd behavior of NFS of ZFS versus UFS
I have a test cluster running HA-NFS that shares both ufs and zfs based file systems. However, the behavior that I am seeing is a little perplexing. The Setup: I have Sun Cluster 3.2 on a pair of SunBlade 1000''s connecting to two T3B partner groups through a QLogic switch. All four bricks of the T3B are configured as RAID-5 with a hot spare. One brick from each pair is mirrored with VxVM

Strange behavior zfs and soalris cluster
Hi All, Two and three-node clusters with SC3.2 and S10u3 (120011-14). If a node is rebooted when using SCSI3-PGR the node is not able to take the zpool by HAStoragePlus due to reservation conflict. SCSI2-PGRE is okay. Using the same SAN-LUN:s in a metaset (SVM) and HAStoragePlus works okay with PGR and PGRE. (both SMI and EFI-labled disks) If using scshutdown and restart all nodes then it will

ZFS Panicing System Cluster Crash effect
Issues with ZFS and Sun Cluster If a cluster node crashes and HAStoragePlus resource group containing ZFS structure (ie. Zpool) is transitioned to a surviving node, the zpool import can cause the surviving node to panic. Zpool was obviously not exported in controlled fashion because of hard crash. Storage structure is - HW RAID protected LUN from array. Zpool build on single HW LUN. Zpool created

Export ZFS over NFS ?
I''ve got my first server deployment with ZFS. Consolidating a pair of other file servers that used to have a dozen or so NFS exports in /etc/dfs/dfstab similar to; /export/solaris/images /export/tools /export/ws ..... and so on.... For the new server, I have one large zfs pool; -bash-3.00# df -hl bigpool 16T 1.5T 15T 10% /export that I am starting to

NFS export issue
Hello, I have a ZFS filesystem structure, which is basically like this: /foo /foo/bar /foo/baz all are from one pool and /foo does only contain the other directories/mounts (no other files) When I try to export /foo via dfstab, I can see the directories bar and baz, but these are empty. Can I only export via NFS each subdir on its own ? thanks in advance. Thomas

ZFS/NFS - SC 3.2 and AVS - HOWTO [SOLVED]
Hello, I will try to concentrate in this post the informations about the configurations that i''m deploying, thinking that it should be usefull for somebody else.. The objective of my tests is: High Availability services with ZFS/NFS on solaris 10 using a two-node Sun Cluster. The scenarios are two: 1) Using "shared discs" (global devices). 2) Using "non-shared

sharenfs=off, but still being shared?
I noticed an oddity on my 2008.05 box today. Created a new zfs file system that I was planning to nfs share out to an old FreeBSD box, after I put sharenfs=on for it, I noticed there was a bunch of others shared too: -bash-3.2# dfshares -F nfs RESOURCE SERVER ACCESS TRANSPORT reaver:/store/movies reaver - - reaver:/export

Force Group and NFS mounted dir problems
Hi! I hope you can assist me with this one. We are using version Samba 2.0.3 and are having troubles making the "force group" config option work as expected. To make matters more interesting the file system being samba-shared is mounted from another unix server. To explain: Machine "marvin" (Solaris 2.7) exports /mnt/anthias using (/etc/dfs/dfstab): share -F nfs -o

Cannot share RW, "Permission Denied" with sharenfs in ZFS
Hi everyone, I have just installed Solaris and have added a 3x500GB raidz drive array. I am able to use this pool (''tank'') successfully locally, but when I try to share it remotely, I can only read, I cannot execute or write. I didn''t do anything other than the default ''zfs set sharenfs=on tank''... how can I get it so that any allowed user can access

Using setfacl to control access to /dev/kqemu
Solaris 10U3, latest kqemu, qemu-0.9.0-CVS plus TAP patch. I''m aware that a fair amount of "rootish" access is required for the TAP and bridge stuff, and I''m working on that. As kind of a secuirty thought, I figured I''d use setfacl to give myself access to the /dev/kqemu device instead of leaving it mode 664 or 666. However, that didn''t work.

solaris 10U7
I just noticed that my zpool is still running v10 and my zfs filesystems are on v3. This is on solaris 10U3. Before upgrading the zpool and ZFS versions I''d like to know the supported versions by solaris 10 update.7 I''d rather not make my zpools unaccessable ;)

NFS issue with ZFS
I have Solaris 10 U7 that is exporting ZFS filesytem. The client is Solaris 9 U7. I can mount the filesytem just fine but I am unable to write to it. showmount -e shows my mount is set for everyone. the dfstab file has option rw set. So what gives? using veritas dmp with ZFS (but not vxvm)
We have some HDS storage that isn''t supported by mpxio, so we have to use veritas dmp to get multipathing. Whats the recommended way to use DMP storage with ZFS. I want to use DMP but get at the multipathed virtual luns at as low a level as possible to avoid using vxvm as much as possible. I figure theres no point in having overhead from 2 volume manages if we can avoid it. Has anyone

ZFS and VXVM/VXFS
We are looking at the alternatives to VXVM/VXFS. One of the feature which we liked in Veritas, apart from the obvious ones is the ability to call the disks by name and group them in to a disk group. Especially in SAN based environment where the disks may be shared by multiple machines, it is very easy to manage them by disk group names rather than cxtxdx numbers. Does zfs offer such

Question: vxvm/dmp or zfs/mpxio
Hello experts, My client is thinking about changing one of their servers running Solaris 8 (NIS Hub to mention something) to a server running Solaris 10. The question that i have given is to check the differences or if you wish the status/stability of changing VXvm with DMP (Dynamic Multi Pathing) to a system with ZFS and MPXio. I have made my share of RTFM but not come any closer to an answer.

Samba using ADS
Hello list, I am using Samba with ADS authentication. I am able to map drives and open and close files with no issues with the exception of Microsoft Outlook email files. So from within Outlook, I open one of these email files and I get an access denied error. Even if i put 777 permission on the files in question I get the same error. I am using LDAP as a user and group store if that means
