Rsyncing huge file, timeout on rsyncd
Hello,
let me describe my setup.
Source server is debian wheezy, rsync 3.0.9
Destination is qnap TS-410, with rsyncd enabled, rsync 3.0.7
I'm trying to rsync two files, which are exported from source server as iscsi
targets (windows iscsi backups). Files are on btrfs, so I use snapshots during
rsync, so files don't change.
One file is 50GB, second is 550GB in size.
Initial sync over

why does mkfs.ocfs2 take so long?
Hi,
Why does mkfs.ocfs2 take so long compared to gfs2 (pretty fast iirc),
xfs (almost instantaneous), or ext3 (slow but still ok)? I'm using:
# mkfs.ocfs2 -F -b 4k -C 4k -L san1 -T mail /dev/vg/san1
mkfs.ocfs2 1.3.9
Overwriting existing ocfs2 partition.

Weird problem with rsync 3.0.9
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is really rsync related so fell free to ignore this message ;)
I have to server. The first one is rsync server et and the second one the client. The rsync server repo is around 325Go.
Every time my client start rsync, both rsyncd on the server and rsync on the client entered "Uninterruptible sleep" state and I can't figure out why.

GPFS for mail-storage (Was: Re: Compressing existing maildirs)
Great information, thank you. Could you remark on GPFS services hosting mail storage over a WAN between two geographically separated data centers?

PowerCut Killed R - is my code retrievable?
I've been tweaking code for several days on and off in R, cut and pasting in from a text editor (I just leave them open all the time). I think I got something that was usable but then a powersurge tripped the fuses and unfortunately the machine I was working on doesn't have a UPS.
Does R hold the command data in cache some place? I've purposefully not opened R since the crash so

Undefined symbol when trying to dyn.load a shared object
I hope that someone reading this list can offer some suggestions on how I can incorporate external C libraries in C functions that I want to call from R. I have gone through all of the documentation, help files and mailing list archives and have not been able to find a satisfactory solution.
I have constructed a simple example of the problem, since my "real" program is much more

include libraries for C code called from R
I hope that someone on this list can help me with this issue. I have searched

been unable to find an answer that addresses my particular problem directly.

Deploying Solaris on Xen via jumpstart
Hi everybody,
Today I tried the latest Solaris on Xen build.
I downlaoded all files and created the iso.
Then I wanted to run setup_install_server , but this failed:
bash-3.00# ./setup_install_server /export/sol_xen/
-bash: ./setup_install_server: cannot execute binary file
-bash-3.00#
So I create a tar file to copy over all files to export/sol_xen/
Then I tried to start and install via

CentOS 6 domU on Debian 6 dom0 not working
Hi all,
Has anyone managed to get CentOS 6 domU (i.e. guest) working on a Debian 6 do0?
Both OS''s are 32bit and I''m running XEN 4.0.1 with HVM support.
A CentOS 5.6 domU works fine on this very same server though.
When I start CentOS 6, I get the following error:
newusaxen:~# xm create -c /xen/genocide.cfg
Using config file "/xen/genocide.cfg".

An Open-iSCSI Question
Hi People
Using Open iSCSI I have been able to create and mount multiple iSCSI
partitions and have them mount at boot. Now I wanted to setup a
situation where one of the visible iSCSI partitions mounts at boot and
the other is only available if I manually connect to it.
This led me to the following command *iscsiadm -m node -T

Dear Arnaud,
Now I started to write a driver that simulates continous power breaks.
(E.g. in every 30 minutes.)
This could be used for testing of setup of client upsmons.
I have to simulate a behaviour of a real UPS. The physical model
contains an extra attribute: the charging current that needed to compute
recharge time and actual battery charge during the recharge process.
Can we call this

Hello
I want to make some variables with the ifelse-function, but i don't know how
to do it.
I want to make these five variables;
b2$PRRSvac <- ifelse(b2$status=='A' | b2$status=='Aa',1,0)
b2$PRRSdk <- ifelse(b2$status=='B' | b2$status=='Bb',1,0)
b2$sanVac <- ifelse(b2$status=='C' | b2$status=='sanAa',1,0)

Upgrading ZFS Version on Solaris 08/07
I wanted to crossgrade from OpenSolaris b65 to Solaris 10 08/07 for my main
fileserver, but I found that I could not import my zpool due to a version
mismatch. Is there any way to upgrade only ZFS on 08/07 so that it matches
or exceeds the version used by b68?

Several simple but hard tasks to do with R
Hello everybody. I've been learning R for about a month to do a
econometric study and now i'm stuck with some problems to make R do the
things I want. Here I give the list of things I wanna do from the most
simple to the more complex (for me of course):
1. Make a log. I've been using Stata and there i have a great tool to
register what the program do: the log file, wich it's a
