vfs_fruit in 4.3.4 Directory Renames with Open Files Problem
Hello Everyone,
We've observed a problem in with the latest version of samba and vfs_fruit
and was wondering if anyone has seen the same problem.
Samba 4.3.4 with vfs_fruit enabled allows a Mac client to rename a
directory when another client has another client has open files in that
directory. The fix for this bug brought this functional change to vs_fruit:

as previously discussed, we try to be bug compatible with Apple. ;)
The problem is, either way, allowing or not allowing directory renames

postfix+dovecot delivering to wrong (/var/mail/%u) place
(Dovecot 1.0.rc15)
Hello I'm tring to configure postfix+dovecot on debian etch.
In dovecot I use passdb pam and userdb passwd-file. I can connect pop3
clients and reveice mails
and connect smtp clients and send mails, but it is delivered to
/var/mail/%u instead the configured
mailboxes in /var/local/dovecot/%u.
I`ve configured postfix as say http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Postfix.

Proxyarp vs DNAT
Hello list,
I am in the process of switching from IPCOP to Shorewall s the firewall
for our small office. I very much like the fact that Shorewall runs on
top of the same OS (openSuSE 11.4) that I run on the server and my desktop.
Our setup is fairly straightforward. We have 8 static ip addresses from
our ISP, which provides a cable modem and a Cisco 800 series router.
The ip addresses are

Questions on Active Record SQL type Finders & Dynamic Finder
Hi,
I understand there are total 11 types of key Options for finding a
record.
The all 11 valid keys for the options hash are :conditions,
:include, :order, :select, :group, :joins, :from, :limit, :offset,
:readonly, and :lock.
We also have Dynamic Finders for the same. e.g. ... find_by etc...
I would like to know, how many types of dynamic finders, Active Record
provides, to match all those

Problem with Centos 5.3 + Samba 3.0.33 +AD (2k3)
Hi everyone,
I have an issue with Samba agains Active Directory.
The authentication works just fine but when it comes to shares I've ran into
some problems.
If I use any group mapping from the AD it won't let me access it so I figure
that is where the problem lays.
If I comment out "valid users", "force user" and "force group" then I have
no problems and it

FerretHelper module and Ferret Finder utility
Hi
I''ve written ferret_helper.rb (FerretHelper module) containing wrapper
methods
for converting PDF, HTML, Open Document and Microsoft Word files to
plain text
for the Ferret index analysers.
To help test it I wrote a simple ff.rb (Ferret Finder) command-line
utility to
index and search document files.
You can download the code at http://www.methods.co.nz/ff/

Join Finder Question (ActiveRecord)
Hi
I have a many-to-many relationship between users and roles
class User << ActiveRecord::Base
has_and_belongs_to_many :roles
end
class Role << ActiveRecord::Base
...
end
There is an user_roles table for the many-to-many and all works as
expected.
Role has an attribute (attr_x).
I want to find the Users that have a Role with attr_x == some val, in
one find.
Is there any

Create my own dynamic "finder" method?
Hi all
I''m having an authorization method that looks like the following:
def user_requests_authorization_to(right_name)
...
end
I find it boring to always use
user_requests_authorization_to(''EDIT'')
user_requests_authorization_to(''CREATE'')
etc., so I thought I could implement my own dynamic method, like the
dynamic finders! Instead of the calls

OS X Finder - Zero KB Available, Write Problems, Uggh
Dear list-
On all of our Mac OS X (Samba) clients (10.3, 10.4) I have been experiencing the
following problem: users would not be able to write to a published Samba
shares UNLESS tha Global parameter "Max Disk Size = xxxxxx" is set
in the Samba server's config file. I first discovered this issue while
setting up a Linux server (using the 2.4 kernel and version 3.0 of Samba) last

serialize array finder
Hello,
Not sure if this is even possible/practical but I''d like to serialize an
array to a string field like this and then be able to match against it.
User.find(:all, :conditions => ["interests in
(?)",current_user.interests)
Am I better of not denormalizing? How would this be done with ordinary
A/R relationships because I''m not looking for an exact match,

Mac OS X Finder hangs when accessing Samba server
Hello,
I'm hoping someone may be able to steer me in the right direction, as
I've searched the archives with no joy.
Configuration:
Server: Fedora FC3, kernel 2.6.9-1.667, samba-3.0.13-1
Client: Mac OS X Panther 10.3.8
The Samba server works fine with a Windows 2000 client on the same LAN.
With Panther I am seeing the connection drop during transfers and/or the
Finder freezing

Hypercluster Finder Function in R
Dear R Users
I am looking at carrying out Multivariate Supervised Discretization on a
set of continuous attributes to determine cut off values on each attribute
which would allow best explanation of a binary outcome variable.
I understand that there is an algorithm for doing this (The HyperCluster
Finder Algorithm from the paper -Muhlenbach F., & Rakotomalala R. (2002).
