Samba+LDAP problem after replacing BDC
Hi, I had a working enviroment of one PDC and several BDCs. The PDC is Samba version 3.6.6. After replacing of one BDC, I've started to get the following error in LDAP master server: Aug 22 13:44:59 gw slapd[28598]: conn=46129 op=51 do_search: invalid dn (sambaDomainName=Administrator,(null)) and on the PDC: root@:~# net getlocalsid smbldap_search_domain_info: Adding domain info for XXX

applying policies to the Group Policy Creator Owner
Hi: When I add a user xUser to the Group Policy Creator Owner, xUser should be able to create a new GPO , right? However when I run: samba-tool gpo create new_gpo -U xUser , it throw an exception about insufficient ldap permissions. Then when I access via smb to the folder: domain/sysvol/Policies and the user xUser has permissions for creating folders, I mean, it has no ldap permissions. Any

SMB3.11 and receiving NT_STATUS_SMB_BAD_CLUSTER_DIALECT
We have the situation where we are trying to send to a server that has a cluster configuration. When we negotiate, it tells us to talk 3.11. When we actually try to send the file, the share's max protocol is actually only 3.02 and so the Microsoft server sends a NT_STATUS_SMB_BAD_CLUSTER_DIALECT, which means they expect the client to reconnect negotiating only 3.02 as max protocol. DUNDi in 1.2.7.1
Hi few weeks ago I read about redundancy (HA) of asterisk boxes using DNS, DUNDi, so I decided to give it a try. OS FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE, asterisk 1.2.7.1 on one peer I get: lk110*CLI> dundi show peers EID Host Model AvgTime Status 00:11:43:3d:69:e6 195.28.109.37 (S) Symmetric Unavail OK (1 ms) 1 dundi peers [1 online, 0 offline, 0

bibtex::read.bib -- extracting bibentry keys
I have two versions of a bibtex database which have gotten badly out of sync. I need to find find all the entries in bib2 which are not contained in bib1, according to their bibtex keys. But I can't figure out how to extract a list of the bibentry keys in these databases. A minor question: Is there someway to prevent read.bib from ignoring entries that do not contain all required fields?

Simultaneous Share Access via NFS/SMB
I have a share that has been exported via NFS as well as shared using Samba 3.0. On the Windows side, all authentication is currently done using Winbind and Active Directory. On the standalone Samba server (also authenticated using Windbind) where the exported NFS resides, I have the same local Unix user (identified by the same name and UID/GID) that I have on each Unix (Mac/Linux) host that

Restrict some directories in browse list
I have the problem of needing to hide some directories from the browse list (Win98 clients) of some users (total of about 250). I am expecting to create behaviour similar to the home directory where only the home owner can see it. I would like to make some shares visible only to users in a certain Unix group. I have a share 'Automation' with a sub-directory structure and I use Unix

How to turn on SMB3 POSIX extensions in Samba server?
Hi, I want to use the SMB3 POSIX extensions in the latest Samba (with SMB3.1.1, vers=3.1.1). By following the user manual, I have added the "posix" mount option when mounting, but it shows the following error messages. Error messages: [xxxxx] CIFS VFS: Server does not support mounting with posix SMB3.11 extensions. [xxxxx] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -95 Mount option:

Multiprotocol File Sharing via NFSv4 and Samba
FreeNAS / FreeBSD have native NFSv4 ACLs. They do however lack kernel oplock support so there are perhaps some caveats in that regard. Access to Windows 2016 server works with IP but not with netbios name
Hi, I have a customer who is able to access shares using the IP address of the Samba server (running 3.6.x - sorry, can't upgrade) but when they try to access the share using the short (netbios) name, they get "access denied" and are prompted for a username/password. Where would I look to figure out what's going wrong? Thanks, Rob

Need SMB server / client tuning help
Although we reached out to Hitachi support, we didn't specifically request for the smb.conf file from them. As a result, we're uncertain about the status of their Samba version, whether it's in standard or mangled form, and whether they're capable of providing us with the smb.conf file. I was wondering if there are any specific parameters or information that we should check from

Access to Windows 2016 server works with IP but not with netbios name
The client is a Windows 2008 R2 server. I don't know what you mean by classic vs. AD. I assume it's AD, but how would I check? I see the same problem, i.e. "Access is denied" and a window to enter the username/password, if I use the fully qualified name. Thanks, Rob On Fri, Jan 12, 2018 at 10:58 AM, Gaiseric Vandal via samba < samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > Can
