Workaround for (EL6.4) rdesktop-1.6.0-10 Woe
rdesktop has been spewing error messages since the update to CentOS 6.4. Aside from the continuous stream of errors in the terminal window from which it was launched, there are a number of usability issues in the remote session. The pointer does not change shape when moving over various window components such as column separators, window borders, etc. The background doesn't refresh within

mysterious crash of a particular worker
Hi, I am using the latest checkout from backgroundrb release 1.0.1. I have a worker called status_checker that periodically (every minute) checks the status of certain hosts over the network. It works fine at the beginning but after a while the worker will mysteriously disappear and stop working. I have other workers running but they do not disappear like this worker does. These are

ZFS Web administration interface
I don''t seem to have access to the web administration interface. It worked fine up to svn_B37, but B38 and B39 don''t appear to have it deployed. I can start the web console server "/usr/sbin/smcwebserver start" and log in as root but ZFS does not appear in the list of applications. Is there something additional I need to do? Creating ZFS filesystem with inherited ACLs ?
Hi @all, with ZFS its recommended to create a new filesystem, for example for each user to give them a home directory. So far, so good. The homes should be under tank/export/home/staff and my intention is to restrict the ACL rights so only the user self can access his own home directory. I study the ZFS Admin Guide and found the aclmode and aclinherit options, IMHO for my intention the

Source code to ZFS GUI?
Hi all, I noticed that the ZFS source tour page at opensolaris.org does not have the ZFS web based GUI source listed yet. http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/source/ "Management GUI Solaris will ship with a web-based ZFS GUI in build 28. While not part of OpenSolaris (yet), it is an example of a Java-based GUI layered on top of the JNI." Has this source been made public

Cannot get second network interface working in Linux guest
Hi, I''m running snv_89 on an X4150 with a CentOS-5 guest. I cannot seem to get my second network interface to work properly. I followed the virt-install instructions, and even saw the FAQ entry about adding a second network instance in the XML config. I see my second device in the guest but it''s either connected to the wrong interface or not at all. I''d like to

No ACL inheritance with aclmode=passthrough in onnv-134
Hi list, while preparing for the changed ACL/mode_t mapping semantics coming with onnv-147 [1], I discovered that in onnv-134 on my system ACLs are not inherited when aclmode is set to passthrough for the filesystem. This very much puzzles me. Example: $ uname -a SunOS os 5.11 snv_134 i86pc i386 i86pc $ pwd /Volumes/ACLs/dir1 $ zfs list | grep /Volumes rpool/Volumes 7,00G 39,7G 6,84G

Hi Rowland, I see this in the ZFS props, if that’s related, you might be referring to something in ext3 that im not aware of at the moment. pool/myshare aclinherit restricted default pool/myshare acltype off default So, if you heard that I was going to use

Huge difference in reporting disk usage via du and zfs list. Fragmentation?
Do we have enormous fragmentation here on our X4500 with Solaris 10, ZFS Version 10? What except zfs send/receive can be done to free the fragmented space? One ZFS was used for some month to store some large disk images (each 50GByte large) which are copied there with rsync. This ZFS then reports 6.39TByte usage with zfs list and only 2TByte usage with du. The other ZFS was used for similar

POSIX permission bits, ACEs, and inheritance confusion
I am running a test system with Solaris 10u6 and I am somewhat confused as to how ACE inheritance works. I''ve read through http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/docs/zfsadmin.pdf but it doesn''t seem to cover what I am experiencing. The ZFS file system that I am working on has both aclmode and aclinherit set to passthrough, which I thought would result in the ACEs being just
