zvol used apparently greater than volsize for sparse volume
What does it mean for the reported value of a zvol volsize to be
less than the product of used and compressratio?
For example,
# zfs get -p all home1/home1mm01
NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
home1/home1mm01 type volume -
home1/home1mm01 creation 1254440045 -
home1/home1mm01 used 14902492672

Volsize for DomU
Hey all
I''ve created a Xen DomU on snv_134 , its Debian Lenny. For the disk, I''ve used a ZFS volume, which I accidentally set to 1GB.
I''ve tried setting the volsize of the volume to 3GB and rebooting the domain, but this still only sees the initial 1GB disk. I''ve read about rebooting for volsize to take effect, but this seems to be in the context of either

Ubuntu iSCSI install to COMSTAR zfs volume Howto
I apologize if this has been covered before. I have not seen a blow-by-blow installation guide for Ubuntu onto an iSCSI target.
The install guides I have seen assume that you can make a target visible to all, which is a problem if you want multiple iSCSI installations on the same COMSTAR target. During install Ubuntu generates three random initiators and you have to deal with them to get things

Adding devices to a zone on SXU4 + 127111-03 && 127728-02
Hi *,
Missed it by that '''' much... or something to brighten everyone''s
Friday. This is just a heads up since I suspect others will run
into it.

Consider the possibilities of a device named star.
I added devices from the global zone to the bug zone in the usual way and
rebooted the zone:
<device match="/dev/zvol/rdsk/bug/devices/*"/>
And I got

Team,
**Please respond to me and my coworker listed in the Cc, since neither

QUICK PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Cu created a dataset which contains all the zvols for a particular

using a match statement in the zoneconfig (see long problem description

HEADS UP: iSCSI, zvol, and vdisk format support
Looks like I forgot to send this to the alias...
MRJ

A quick heads up for the iscsi, zvol, and vdisk
format putback I did into the 3.3 development
gate.
ISCSI
=====
With this putback, you can now install onto and
boot a guest using iSCSI disk(s).
The iscsi formats supported are:

How to bind the oracle 9i data file to zfs volumes
Experts,
I''m installing Oracle 9i on Solaris 10 11/06(update 3),I created some

zvol (slow) vs file (fast) performance snv_130
Hello,
I was doing performance testing, validating zvol performance in particularly, and found that zvol write performance to be slow ~35-44MB/s at 1MB blocksize writes. I then tested the underlying zfs file system with the same test and got 121MB/s. Is there any way to fix this? I really would like to have compatible performance between the zfs filesystem and the zfs zvols.

Resizing ZFS block devices and sbdadm
sbdadm can be used with a regular ZFS file or a ZFS block device.
Is there an advatage to using a ZFS block device and exporting it to comstar via sbdadm as opposed to using a file and exporting it? (e.g. performance or manageability?)
Also- let''s say you have a 5G block device called pool/test
You can resize it by doing:
zfs set volsize=10G pool/test
However if the device was already

Update LDOM bootdisk (ZFS) from control domain
Hello,
I am trying to update files on LDOM boot disk from Control Domain, but I
can''t get it working fully.
I have a setup that allows to quickly deploy LDOM guest domains. The Golden
OS Image of guest domain boot disk is on a ZFS Volume. This ZFS Volume has
been Snapshot and Cloned for the quick deployment of guest domains.
Filesystem in both the control domain and guest domain is

do we support zonepath on UFS formated ZFS volume
Hi, ZFS experts,
From ZFS release notes, " Solaris 10 6/06 and Solaris 10 11/06: Do Not
Place the Root File
Systemof a Non-Global Zone on ZFS. The zonepath of a non-global zone
should not reside on
ZFS for this release. This action might result in patching problems and
possibly prevent the system
from being upgraded to a later Solaris 10 update release."
So my question is, do we

Root Mirror - Permission Denied
I have a system that I''m trying to bring up with a mirrored rpool. I''m using DarkStar''s ZFS Root Mirror blog post as a guide (http://darkstar-solaris.blogspot.com/2008/09/zfs-root-mirror.html).
When I get to step 3 I execute:
pfexec prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c7d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c7d1s2
I get: fmthard: Cannot open device /dev/rdsk/c7d1s2 - Permission denied

add device to mirror rpool in sol11exp
In my new oracle server, sol11exp, it''s using multipath device names...
Presently I have two disks attached: (I removed the other 10 disks for now,
because these device names are so confusing. This way I can focus on *just*
the OS disks.)

Problems installing grub
Hi all
One of the rpool drives on this server died the other day, so I got a replacement that was 1 cylinder larger (60798 vs 60797). Still, I tried
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c7d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c6d0s2
zpool replace worked and the pool resilvered within a few minutes. Now, installing grub fails.
