Samba first time run
Hello, I just installed samba (very carefully) from the sources on Debian 11. 1. I installed the packages for libraries and utilities required to build and install Samba (using "bootstrap_generated-dists_debian11_bootstrap.sh", downloaded from the "wiki.samba.org" website). 2. I downloaded the sources (https://download.samba.org/pub/samba/stable/samba-4.18.0.tar.gz). 3.

@WilliamEdwards The "/usr/local/samba/sbin/samba" command has no output. root# ps aux | grep samba shows samba is not running. @RowlandPenny I stick to it. You are unpleasant. I don't want you to answer my posts anymore. Not here, or on StackExchange, like one or two months ago, where I was trying to avoid your answers. (I was happy, at the end of 2019, the last time I had to care about Samba, when Van Belle took care of me with kindness and efficiency (within a couple of days the problem was solved). You answered

@RowlandPenny And why not may I ask you? All I'm doing is in the "wiki.samba.org" website pages (see link below for example), can't it be trusted? (If not, is there a reliable manual for Samba installation, administration and use?) I thought the "make install" command, installed something, as its name indicates... It's written in the wiki: "To install

Indeed, I think it is not: # dpkg -L samba-libs dpkg-query: package 'samba-libs' is not installed Also the following directories no longer exist: - /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/ - /var/lib/samba/bind-dns/ > apt-get update

First time run errors, winesetup?
I compiled the latest release of wine, without any problems, on Red Hat, 7.2 When I run wine, it says I dont have a .wine config file, in my user directory. I ran winelauncher, and clicked setup, and it says it cant find 'winesetup', which it needs to write the config file for the first time run. winesetup isnt in the release (or any I have seen), if they has been taken out, how do I

Testing year effect in lm() ***failed first time, sending again
Dear R-helpers, I have a linear model with a year effect (year is coded as a factor), i.e. the parameter estimates for each level of my year variable have significant P values (see some output below) and I am interested in testing: a) the overall effect of year; b) the significance of each year vis-a-vis every other year (the model output only tests each year against the baseline year). I'd

Samba 2.2.7a - adduser script only worked the first time
I have WinXP machines loging into a samba domain. I am using this add user script: add user script = useradd -d /dev/null -g 300 -s /bin/false -M %u This worked beautifully with the first WinXP machine I set up. I immediately booted up a second machine and got the "Access Denied" error. I have tried two more computers since and keep getting the same thing but the first machine still

How to run regressions over increasing time series
Hello, I would like to run a series of regressions on my data (response variable over time): 1) regression from T1 to T2 2) regressions from T1 through T3 3) regression from T1 through T4, etc. I have been struggling to find a way to do this through commands, as opposed to cutting up the data manually (my dataset has over 6000 rows/observations). An illustrative dataset can be created thusly:

How to run a model 1000 times, while saving coefficients each time?
Hello, We have written a program (below) to model the effect of a covariate on observed values of a response variable (using only 80% of the rows in our dataframe) and then use that model to calculate predicted values for the remaining 20% of the rows. Then, we compare the observed vs. predicted values using a linear model and inspect that model's coefficients and its R2 value. We wish

Post-processing of approximated irregular time series
Hi all, Issue: I merged two zoo objects (a regular and an irregular). After the merge I used the function 'na.approx' to have also values in the resolution of the regular time series. Problem: After approximation some rows at the beginning or at the end of the zoo objects disappear due to the 'na.approx' algorithm. Now I just want to have all the rows of the regular time series

First time wine-user with some problems!
Hello! Okay, I've never used Wine before so I apologize upfront for being such a noob :) but I'd appreciate some help if you can offer it! I work on a MacBook Pro and recently downloaded Darwine for a Windows application I need to install for a part-time job. The program is Tunnelier and from what I can see online, others have been able to use it successful in Wine but when I try to open
