Samba first time run
@WilliamEdwards The "/usr/local/samba/sbin/samba" command has no output. root# ps aux | grep samba shows samba is not running. @RowlandPenny I stick to it. You are unpleasant. I don't want you to answer my posts anymore. Not here, or on StackExchange, like one or two months ago, where I was trying to avoid your answers. (I was happy, at the end of 2019, the last time I had to care about Samba, when Van Belle took care of me with kindness and efficiency (within a couple of days the problem was solved). You answered

@RowlandPenny And why not may I ask you? All I'm doing is in the "wiki.samba.org" website pages (see link below for example), can't it be trusted? (If not, is there a reliable manual for Samba installation, administration and use?) I thought the "make install" command, installed something, as its name indicates... It's written in the wiki: "To install

Hi, Sorry if this is a very basic question, but when I run this glm(formula = loge ~ lat + ne + dep, family = gaussian) summary shows the same formula but results only for the first two variables. How to join a Linux machine to a Samba4 domain
Hello, My question is about how to join a "Linux" machine to a "Samba4 AD DC" domain. Given that I have a "Samba4 AD DC" running on a machine (A), given that I have a another machine (B) running "Linux Debian Wheezy", can you tell me: 1) How I can join (B) to the domain? Do I have to install specific packages on (B)? Does it look like something like

DNS backend SAMBA_INTERNAL name resolution through VPN
Hi, My problem is about DNS names resolution in case there are two DNS servers separated by a VPN and one DNS domain name. Context: two Samba AD DC on each side of the VPN, one forest, one domain, one site, two subnets. Note that this target configuration is not yet operational since I'm trying to make the DSN names resolution work first through the VPN. The DNS servers are Samba internal

Wiki should have Readme First
Many first time users of Samba-4 seem to struggle with the same issues. I suggest the Wiki should have a Readme First similar like this: http://www.klaus-hartnegg.de/gpo/14-03-12-samba4.html It basicly says that Samba 4 can behave either like Samba 3, or as AD-DC, in which case it should do nothing else. Then it lists the main differences, limitations, and requirements. I would love to see a

Zipf fitting using R
Dear R-users, I am new to R and would like to use it for fitting the zipf distribution to some numeric data that I have. Here's the snippet that I use: library(VGAM) X <- read.table(file("~\\mydata.txt", encoding="latin1")) w <- as.vector(t((X[2]))) w <- w/sum(w) y <- (1:length(w)) fit = vglm (y ~ 1, zipf, tra=TRUE, weight=w) zipf(N=NULL,

[PATCH v2 00/14] xen: arm: 64-bit guest support and domU FDT autogeneration
I''ve addressed all (I think/hope) of the review comments. The main change is to expose the guest virtual platform (e.g. memory layout and interrupt usage etc) to the toolstack via the public interface. This is then used during FDT generation. I have just codified the current defacto standard layout, it''s probably not the best layout but any change can be a separate patch/series.

State space AR models in R: some examples
Hi all, Does anyone have an example of an autoregressive (AR) time-series model specified as a state space model in R? That is, I want to go beyond the locally linear (constant) model, and fit the following Gaussian AR state process model: Xt = a + (1+b)*Xt-1 + epsilon ,where the model for the observation process is Yt = Xt + tau I have information of the tau's (observation variance)

How to backup data from an installation in order to restore them in a new one?
Hello. I appreciate the advice and maybe "revoked" is not an appropriate word, so I will use another one: Machine (A) is going to be "shut down forever". Do my questions deserve another answer given that clarification? And, by the way, I have two DCs (a "provisioned" one and a "joined" one). The two DCs will be "shut down forever" and replaced

Newbie difficulties on Samba4/Documentation
I am slowly teaching myself sufficient to get a Samba AD DC running on a very small network as a training exercise, replacing an ancient Samba PDC with at least 10 years worth of mistakes in it! I am not a computer specialist, but an electrical engineer who has some involvement in the IT system of a charity using AD (my reason for wanting to learn), and therefore this exercise has been
