Add RAID after install in one disk
Hi, I had this hard time installing a server with RAID 1 by software. I always got an error from GRUB and no booting. So, i've installed CentOS 4.4 normally in only one disk. Question is: is it possible now to make a RAID 1 by software with the other disk ? If so, how ? I'm completely lost here. Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, M?rio Gamito -------------- next part

Warning regarding AMD Athalon 64 4200+(HVM/AMD-V)
Hello to all, For those evaluating the AMD X2 4200+ series for the purposes of running HVM guests, take a note below before purchasing if the server you are purchasing happens to be made by HP. There is an oddball version (apparently OEM sold to HP) which does *not* support AMD-V technology. I''ve seen many of these on e-bay as well as for sale / lease by popular co-location facilities.

Since the current nscd is started at the exact same time as

Current best AMD processor for running mainstream games?
Hi all, I want to buy a processor that will be good for gaming in Wine in FreeBSD. I see that many game engines are starting to take advantage of multi-core systems, however it appears that multi-threaded applications are not distributed properly across multiple cores (Ex: Starcraft II - http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20882 ). So I'm not sure if I should aim

Hi, I'm trying to migrate from uw imapd to dovecot. I'm having two problems at the moment. 1. uw imapd grabs new mail from /var/mail/user and then shoves it into ~/mbox, is there any way to make dovecot handle this kind of setup or am I better off merging ~/mbox back into /var/mail/user? If merging is better are what tools are best for this? 2. While I did have have everything in

wireless card for CentOS
Hi, I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box. By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper (or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever. Thanks

openssl package possibly different in CentOS and RHEL
I've just had a problem on one of my x86_64 boxes with openssl package. I have an 32-bit only application that requires openssl libraries. When I attempted to install openssl.i686 (in addition to already present openssl.x86_64), it failed. The rpm complained about conflicting files (they were all manpages), and I needed to use --force option to install the thing. The good folks

Large dataset operations
Hello all, I'm new to R and trying to figure out how to perform calculations on a large dataset (300 000 datapoints). I have already made some code to do this but it is awfully slow. What I want to do is add a new column for each "rep_ " column where I have taken each value and divide it by the mean of all values where "PlateNo" is the same. My data is in the following
