yp dir
Hi All,
Maybe a strange question, is there any info or maybe even an template
for setting up an yp directory!
The idea to set one up for local purpuses like: espescially dutch
languages would be nice!
Maybe an extra setting in the stream clients to also give in the
language and maybe even country of orgin of the content could be any
help with that, could be a nice extra search option too for

yp.icecast.org || when does your stream come into the db?
they are the same for practical purposes, but I believe i started
pushing m3u because it was better supported, or less application fought
over it, or something. it's probably different today, but i still use
m3u.
M3U is simpler than pls. just a file/url per line, that's it.
for a sstream a pls file would look like:
http://your.server.com:8000/mymount
and that's it.

It _is_ streaming, you just aren't accessing it right.
You can't just point your browser to a stream. The browser will always
download the content, and then pass it off to the helper application.

yp.icecast.org || when does your stream come into the db?
hello,
I have a stream which has been up and running for about 20
hours now.
It's already in the yp.shoutcast.com, that happened within
minutes.
However, I would also like my stream to be in the
yp.icecast.org list as well.
How long should this take?
cheers,
t.
(p.s. is under genre "jazz" in the shoutcast yp. the stream

exposed-port option for Icecast behind reverse proxy
Hello,
I didn't want to have to choose between Icecast running on port 80 and all
my Apache virtual hosts, running also on port 80, on my sole external IP
address.
I didn't want either to open port 8000 on my firewall because I wanted all
users being able to reach Icecast even the ones behind enterprise firewalls.
So I managed to run Apache 2.2 listening on port 80 and Icecast 2.3.2

I tried a pls file and it appears to work. What's the difference (in
practical terms) and where do I find the documentation on M3U files?
Thanks

Config ICECAST server in Wndows XP Pro
Hi Geoff,
Thanks for Your reply. We are not able understand How to config Source
point and what is the differences between admin and source because here in
this document we are entering separate password for admin and source. If
admin means ICECAST admin then I don't have any user name or password for my
ICECAST server which is installed in my system. We are not able understand

There are two different ways to group servers together on the YP.
The first is referred to as "server grouping". Streams that have the same

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
Hi Rob
The stream format has nothing to do with your audio files. I probably
have 70% MP3's and 30% Ogg Vorbis files, and 1 or 2 WAV files for
jingles on my hard drive. I only encode new CD's to Ogg Vorbis.
But my station is streaming in AAC+ format, and I have also streamed in
Ogg Vorbis format simultaneously. There is no way I would bother
streaming in MP3 format. It's 15+

How to handle NAT ?
Now I have the icecast server working within the confines of my home
network (ip: 10.1.1.x), I want to be able to connect to it from the other
side of my firewall too.
I configured the firewall to pass all port 8000 traffic to my linux
server (local address 10.1.1.101)
If I connect from the other side of my firewall using my external ip
(217.x.x.x), then I see the connection come in on the icecast

Sounds like we should add a comment in the config file about the
'externally accessible' requirement of the hostname. Or
