Solaris 10 / ZFS file system major/minor number
Hi,
In migrating from **VM to ZFS am I going to have an issue with Major/Minor numbers with NFS mounts? Take the following scenario.
1. NFS clients are connected to an active NFS server that has SAN shared storage between the active and standby nodes in a cluster.
2. The NFS clients are using the major/minor numbers on the active node in the cluster to communicate to the NFS active server.
3.

R/W lock portability issue
Hi,
I am having a problem porting Solaris R/W lock functionality to Linux.
The problem is that RW_LOCK_HELD() doesn''t have an equivalent function
in pthreads.
This was not a problem before because RW_LOCK_HELD() was only used in
ASSERT statements. In this case, I was able to make it work by making it
behave a bit differently (specifically, it would return true if *any*

zfs object sets and datasets
Hi All,
I am looking at trying to understand the conceptual model of how data is
grouped and partitioned within a storge pool. In looking at the on disk
document that Tabriz sent out a few weeks ago I see that object sets are
the grouping which ZFS uses to group objects that are related.
Specifially to aid in format and layout of like objects in to a set.
So, for example 1 potential object

I can see a case for and against allowing this when considering it
purely at the feature level as users/admins see things.

Read-only (forensic) mounts of ZFS
Hi
I''m looking into forensic aspects of ZFS, in particular ways to use ZFS tools
to investigate ZFS file systems without writing to the pools. I''m working on
a test suite of file system images within VTOC partitions. At the moment,
these only have 1 file system per pool per VTOC partition for simplicity''s
sake, and I''m using Solaris 10 6/06, which may not

[LLVMdev] [un]wrapping llvm:DITypeRef
In trying to write a C binding for DIBuilder of llvm 3.6.1, I can't see a way to unwrap
llvm::DITypeRef, declared in include/llvm/IR/DebugInfo.h. This is a class with one
data member, a pointer to Metadata.
If I try to make my C type a struct with one pointer, I can't cast it to DITypeRef.
If I try to go inside the classes and use the pointer, I can cast, but can't construct

We generally don't want auto-dereference. There is some special magic for unwrapping Uses etc though. Is this what you're in contact with Gabor?

[DebugInfo] DWARF C API
Hi folks,
I am trying to implement the C bindings API for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFDie.
My goal is to have a C library that reads and parses DWARF debugging format
(just like how llvm-dwarfdump does, but maybe more than just dumping debug
info)
I've started with creating C structure for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFContext
which contains all DWARF DIEs in the object file. For this I used

[DebugInfo] DWARF C API
Hi David,
Sorry, I forget to attach the valgrind dump to this. I was not sure if my
implementation was ok, so I wanted to ask if I've done something wrong
first.
