change hvm defaults for timer_mode and hpet?
Due to recent changes in timer handling (specifically building
hpet emulation on top of Xen system time and ensuring it is
monotonic), I wonder if it now makes sense to:
1) change hvm default for hpet to 1 (was 0)
2) change hvm timer_mode default from 0 to 2
I encouraged adding the hvm hpet parameter and defaulting
it to 0 because the virtual hpet was not reliable and many
guests/versions

[Xen-ia64-devel] [PATCH] Add guest_os_type domain config option
On ia64 we have a desire to know the guest OS the user plans to run
in an HVM domain. With this information we can make certain
optimizations, for instance knowing if a guest identity maps a memory
region can change how we handle page faults. In the past we''ve tried to
do this via the guest firmware detecting the guest type, but this is
error prone and doesn''t allow the user to

libvirt package
Hello list,
I'm new in this list. I have been worked in libvirt and virt-manager
packages and I am getting some problems to set it up.
Compiling libvirt and virt-manager from the source, using xen 3.0.3 headers,
from Debian package, or Xen 3.1.0 headers, from the xen-srouce tarball, the
libvirt and virt-manager work fine. For this reason, I beleave is possible
create a package of it, but it

Guest time and TSCs since changeset 17716
Changeset 17716 provides monotonically increasing guest time for HVM
domains, by using the per-domain pl_time structure. hvm_get_guest_time
and hvm_set_guest_time were changed to use this. Previously, the guest
time was stored directly in the TSC offset fields of the vmx/smv control
structures.
Since pt_freeze_time and pt_thaw_time use hvm_get/set_guest_time, they
now no longer freeze TSC

Is solution like that usable ?

Bug#481105: xen-utils-3.2-1: Need to ajust path to pygrub and hvmloader
Package: xen-utils-3.2-1
Version: 3.2.0-5
Severity: important
virtinst Debian package is pointing the pygrub path to /usr/bin/ and hvmloader to /usr/lib/xen/boot/. I suggest ajust the path
creating a symbolic link of /usr/lib/xen-3.2-1/bin/pygrub to /usr/bin/pygrub and /usr/lib/xen-3.2-1/boot/hvmloader to
/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader. In the last case, need ajust the directory

[Xen-API] XCP Monthly Call Request

In an effort to support the most likely attendees, please send me your time zone if you plan to participate in these calls. I will track the most common time zones in an effort to maximize attendance. All

Bug#402249: Getting libvirt to build without libxen* (for now)
Hi Waldi,
please consider the patch from:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-xen-devel/2007-November/001516.html
it simply adds the missing headers to the current Xen packages. This
would help us along until we have a libxen* and libxen*-dev packages to
get Xen support into libvirt.
I'll take care of (potential) abi breackage in the libvirt package.
Cheers,
