moin auth from http-auth
hi guys, Just wondering if anyone know the possibility of getting Moin to inherit http auth ? Was just looking at a few things that we might be able to do - and using inherit from http auth might make life a bit easier for us, and users. - KB -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

language support
hi guys, Just to touch base and restart the conversation about language support in the wiki. w.r.t the namespace / urlspace issue - did we finalise / decide on using wiki.centos.org/<lang>/<namespace> ? or is that issue still open to discussion ? Also, are pages in English going to remain as wiki.centos.org/<namespace>/ ? Also, iirc - someone was going to have a go at

wiki content management via automation
Hi the CentOS Cloud images and other things are now built from end to end automated pipelines, but the wiki content corresponding to them isnt. Is there something that can be used to do this automation ? I have done some stuff many many years ago, via directly mangling content on the wiki objects, but that might not be the best way forward. thoughts ? Regards -- Karanbir Singh

proposed changes option
hi, Could we have something like this for people who dont have edit rights : - people can make an 'edit' - but the edit is handled either as a patch emailed to the page maintainer / edit group / editorial group / this list ? but not displayed till its 'accepted / approved ' -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

wiki home page links
I just noticed that the home page links on wiki.centos.org dont actually match the navigation on the top/bottom, is that by design ? it just looks confusing -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

guidelines for version specific info on wiki pages
hi Guys, Just wondering if we should have some guidelines as to how version specific information should be handled on the wiki ? One way might be to have a version tag on each page on the top right and indicate what Versions that page is going to work with. Then in the body have a Grey bar to indicate version specific info. But this might get a bit messy. Any other ideas ? - KB --

install option on wiki homepage
hi, The install option on the wiki homepage looks a bit odd, is it really meant to point at the generic docs landing page for CentOS-5 ? -- Karanbir Singh +44-207-0999389 | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh ICQ: 2522219 | Yahoo IM: z00dax | Gtalk: z00dax GnuPG Key : http://www.karan.org/publickey.asc

wiki.centos.org .. what's next ?
it's all in the title : what's next for wiki.centos.org ? As a reminder, current wiki.centos.org instance is powered by moinmoin (https://moinmo.in/) but quite an old version (moin-1.5.8-3.el6.noarch) Recently I had a quick look at trying to update/upgrade that version to something newer/supported, but it's a nightmare : the data conversion just kill the target server (oom) and no

policy w.r.t Testing repo details on wiki articles
Hi, Do we have a policy w.r.t adding details about packages in the testing repo on the wiki ? Imho that is wrong and encourages the sort of behavior that we want to stop - people using the testing repo without feedback and casual users moving to the testing repo. I think the important thing to keep in mind is - packages in the testing repo are NOT maintained, and even if they have security

Scheduling migration for wiki.centos.org
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, As I received positive feedback from testers (thank you all !) on the wikitesting.centos.org moin instance, I think we can say that we'll migrate the real wiki.centos.org very soon ... I'm actually moving some services around (pdns/msync roles) to free a machine that will be able to host the moin/wiki role. Depending on the available

Opening of the Wiki - Part I
Good News, everybody! Maybe not yet, though :) There are two things I'd like to get at with this mail. a) This also has something to do with Ned's mails from yesterday - we have two FAQs at the moment (on www.centos.org and on wiki.centos.org) and we want to unify those, if possible on the wiki. The one feature the www version has and the wiki one doesn't is comments - and we really

Testing Wiki migration - asking for testers
Hi nice people interested in CentOS Docs and wiki ! There were already threads about migrating the wiki to something else (mediawiki, $other), or staying with moinmoin (what we now have in place). This mail isn't about that thread (but feel free to start a new one about that possible migration or not), but about just migrating the current moinmoin instance from the current machine to a new

howto's and docs from the forums
hi guys, just spent 20 minutes looking through the forums on the website, and it seems people are posting howtos and walkthoughs there. whats the general feeling ? is it worth getting in touch with the authors and seeing if they would like to maintain them on the wiki instead ? I know some of them are really mad and we wont / dont want to highlight them too much ( like, gnome-2.16 hacked

Improving the PageRank of individual wiki pages
Hi, Let me first stress that the success of the wiki is tight to how many users find it as a resource. And that users will only find the wiki for their problems if it has a higher PageRank. (I am using PageRank as an example, other search engines would do better if we can implement some changes overall.) If we take the HowTos/Laptops/Wireless page as an example, the page is not part of the

www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys, At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as well ( Bing has a
