Reporting for Duty.
Hello to the AdminGroup, >From what I have been told (by a very reliable source (AY)), I should direct this for the attention of Ralph. In the nicest possible way, Community members Akemi and Ned (aka toracat and NedSlider) have been twisting my arm to get me to agree to join the Wiki editors. Being susceptible to the right sort of persuasion, I eventually agreed. Over the last few weeks I

SSH contribution?
List, Whilst I'm in the mood for contributing stuff, here's another little howto I wrote on securing SSH that has proved popular in the past: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=433216 If you feel it is suitable and you would like me to contribute it to the CentOS wiki, just set up a page in the appropriate area and I'll be happy to add it. Regards, Ned

becoming root
Hi List, I've just drafted a FAQ/mini-HOWTO on becoming root as this is a topic I see come up time and time again. Perhaps someone with a reasonable understanding could check it for technical correctness, and if anyone would like to offer comments/feedback?? Any suggestions as to where might be an appropriate home for this on the Wiki? Regards, Ned (attached below)

iptables article for Wiki
Hi List, I have been asked in this thread if I would contribute an article on iptables to the Wiki: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10240&forum=37 The article would be based on a tutorial I have previously written here: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=432469 I'm not sure where the article should best go so leave that to your discretion. Short postgrey guide?
Hi Guys, Are you interested in a brief guide on how to set up postgrey (anti-spam greylisting) with postfix? I set it up today and it took me a while to get it working as the config is slightly different from that on many of the googled guides (many are debian/ubuntu based). The darn config file lives in /etc/sysconfig on RH/CentOS rather than /etc/default as mentioned in all the guides I

FAQs
Hi all, Akemi and I have recently been drafting a few posts for a new forum subsection (Readme First & FAQs) to aid new forums members in getting help. One thing we have noticed is that there are two FAQ repositories, one on the main site and one on the Wiki. Main site FAQs: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/ Presumably it would be preferable if there was just one, and as the main

Postgrey Wiki page - FAO Karanbir
Hi Karanbir, everyone I've only just noticed that the sections on Reporting, Multiple MX Considerations and Whitelisting on the Postgrey page are specific to postfix/postgrey. I remember we previously talked about making that page less specific to any particular MTA, and Steve has since kindly contributed a section for sendmail. So I'm wondering how we could best restructure the page

Postfix + CyrusImapd + SALS
Hi guys, Take a look at: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Postfix+CyrusImapd+SASL this intend to be a basic guide on how to build a Postfix+CyrusImapd+SASL Mail System with quotas and virtual domains on CentOS 5.0. Could we improve it some way ?. What do you suggest, ... comments ? Maybe it would be linked from HowTos when you conceder it ready. This guide could be a complement to the

Is there a way in Centos 7 to boot into an alternate video setup? Some distributions have an option to boot into something called VESA (or something similar). Something that might not have the fanciest features, but more likely to at least just work. Dovecot & pam_mkhomedir
Hi there, Does anyone have Dovecot working correctly with pam_mkhomedir, please? I seem to be going through quite a number of IMAP servers this week, trying to find one that will not only authenticate against a Windows domain but which will also create home directories for users the first time they log in. I'm using winbind to do the authentication & that seems to be doing the trick

Yes, that is very much like the problem I encountered, but in my case it did not need multiple monitors to happen, just one. The config file suggested did seem to fix the problem, at least serving as a (hopefully) temporary workaround. Johnny, thanks for the pointer. And thanks to all who replied. P.S. - the workaround seems to work with both the latest "standard" Centos 7 kernel

IPSec tunnel mode with IKE daemon
Hi all. The IPSec part of the LARTC howto is great, but I''ve hit a problem in 7.3. IPSEC tunnels. The example given is for manual keying: add 10.0.0.216 10.0.0.11 esp 34501 -m tunnel -E 3des-cbc "123456789012123456789012"; How does one setup "tunnel mode" using racoon? Trying to setup an ipsec tunnel between two subnets: 10.10.42.0/24 and 10.1.1.0/24 using a
