Another attempt for a Team page
Hi all, I've updated our Team page a bit, added a table for everyone already there. Now I still don't like the fact that we have the distinction between the Core members (whatever that means) and the others. Some have a @centos.org email address, we could use that as a distinction ? I do think we need to make that page exclusive to people that have some sort of responsibility, and

How to move/reorganise existing e-mails to yearly subfolders
Hi all: I am new to e-mail servers and I am evaluating Dovecot. Not really the best combination. 8-) I am trying to find a balance between legal data retention requirements and online mailbox size. I do not want huge online mailboxes, as doing offline, rotating data backups could then take forever (among other reasons). I would rather avoid online (cloud) backups (data protection etc.). If I

freeNX page additional note
Ralph, ScottRobbins has a useful note to add to the FreeNX article. You can see it in this Forum post: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=thread&topic_id=14875&forum=40&post_id=51846 Could you give him edit rights to that page? Thanks, Akemi

Redoing FAQ
Hi, While I was interested to add some FAQ items regarding CentOS continuity/release frequency, I noticed that the FAQ didn't look all too well and the old TOC was seperately maintained from the content/titles. I changed this for the General FAQ and will do so for the other FAQs as well. You can see the difference between the old:

General FAQ addition
Added an entry to http://wiki.centos.org/FAQ/General : 23. How do I provide appropriate information about my system when asking questions? Comments, corrections, and other (constructive :-) ) criticisms are hereby solicited. Phil

potential wiki article on encryption
There is a posting in the CentOS forum that can potentially make a good article regarding encryption (or supplement the existing page). Please take a look at #4 of: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=15923&forum=42 The poster says, "I think that the contents of this document would make a good addition to the wiki, but I don't have the

CentOS Events on wiki menu
Hi, Is it possible to rename the CentOS Events tab to simply Events ? The other tabs do not include CentOS either. For a published article today I required a desktop screenshot. However on 1024x768 with a non-fullscreen browser at wiki.centos.org, the number of tabs required me to make the browser-width larger than I liked it to be. Renaming "CentOS Events" to "Events"

CentOS 5 centosplus kernel + kmod-gfs
On CentOS 5, the current centosplus kernel doesn't want to play with the kmod-gfs package (because kmod-gfs wants the stock kernel): # yum install kmod-gfs gives me: Transaction Check Error: package kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus (which is newer than kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5) is already installed Should it work, or is there a separate centosplus build that I've not

ath9k in CentOS 5
Hi, I'm thinking about updating the wireless card on a CentOS 5.3 box. The Wiki at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless says that the "ath9k driver ships with CentOS", but I can't find it. I've tried modinfo, locate, yum search, and yum provides, but they all come up empty. Am I missing something, or is the Wiki need correcting? I've also searched the

alternative for a broken link
Hi all, In the http://wiki.centos.org/FAQ/General page, there is this description: If you need to burn the images with another program (cdrecord on Linux, Nero on Windows, etc.) here is a good reference for burning ISO images: http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/howtoburn.html The referenced site does not exist any more. Does anyone know good alternatives? Thanks, Akemi

Last character of the boot prompt gone missing ?
Hi, I think I found a problem with syslinux where if you have an entry in the syslinux config file (eg. linux) and you type some additional parameters on the boot-prompt (eg. noacpi) the last character of the prompt is cut off (and missing from /proc/cmdline). This does not seem to happen for the append line in the config file, only for additional parameters on the boot prompt. (I guess it

Merging Documentation and Help pages
Hi, Going over the wiki some more I noticed that the GettingHelp and Documentation page contain the same type of information and could be merged (and reduced) as well. On the FrontPage it is called "Learn" (which I like) and points to the Documentation page. On top it says "Help" and points to the GettingHelp page. I would prefer to keep the Documentation page (or rename

MoinMoin TableOfContents
Hi, I constantly find myself fighting the wiki syntax. Today the problem is that I want a TableOfContents that does NOT include the page title. To be honest, I do not understand why the page title (level 1) is included in the TOC, and why it does not appear in the head-title (<head><title>). I found with Google that there is a syntax like: [[TableOfContents(4,2)]] instead of

[artwork] Image for external links
Hi, Can we use the same image for external links on the wiki as we are using for Trac ? It is much less obtrusive in pieces of text. Lua.c32 wiki page
Hi, I have been experimenting a bit with lua.c32 and I have created a small lua.c32 wiki page at: http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.php/Lua.c32 With my minimal knowledge about Lua (and the inconvenience of not being able to copy&paste or edit scripts) I discovered that the dmi module has 2 functions (supported, gettable) and a syslinux module with 1 function (run_command). Do we

FOSDEM 2012
Hi, Probably too late for the main tracks, but it would be nice to see a syslinux-related presentation at FOSDEM 2012. There are a few tracks where syslinux fits in (Configuration and Systems Management, Embedded, Distribution ?) so it shouldn't be hard to get one or more slots. I enjoyed Peter's presence two years ago and it lead to an uptake of the project (I remember Erwan

That is a very good questions and I personally veel very sad that Red Hat chose to do this. RHEL5 (and CentOS 5) are based on development done on Fedora Core 6. Red Hat started off with Fedora Core 6 when creating

New template for Homepage
Hey, I reworked the HomepageTemplate since the original one was pretty empty. You can find my proposal here: http://wiki.centos.org/HomepageTemplate But to see how it looks properly, I adapted my Homepage to look like it: http://wiki.centos.org/DagWieers I'd like to open a discussion about what items belong on this page and how we can improve it. My aim to include responsibilities,

Standard file extensions for zipped floppy images
Hi, I was wondering what's the best standard file extension for zipped DOS disk images and ramdisks. I've been using the following standard: .zi kernels, memtest86, memdisk .igz .img.gz zipped floppy images and ramdisks I'd rather have a different extension for ramdisks, maybe .zim zipped floppy images .zrd zipped ramdisks Any ideas ? It would also be nice if syslinux
