Bestfortress driver, network serial patch for nut-2.0
Best fortress support was understandably dropped, but we still use them,
and someone else may want the driver I ported to nut-2.0.
We also often attach the serial cable from a UPS to a network terminal
server, since servers these days don't come with very many serial ports.
(They call them "legacy" ports.) I submitted a patch to support these for
nut-1.x, and it was rejected

new(er) SEC driver.
Hi!
I've recently come into to the possesion of a couple of Belkin Omniguard
3200 UPS's. Given the horrible apache/java based software they come with, I
decided to see if I cannot get them to work with NUT.
To cut a long story short, they work out to be SEC -based, and extensively
modifying the nut-1.4 driver code to come up with the attached two files.
I've marked them

Patch for the bestfortress driver 0.02
I could not make the bestfortress driver 0.02 work for my Best Fortress LI675VA,
so I have made a patch for the driver.
The reason was, that all responses are preceded and terminated by CR LF, but the driver would discard everything after the first CR
LF.
The following patch discards everything up to the first LF.
It also adds a debugging feature of displaying the accepted data (level 5 i.e. -D

Thank you
I just hooked up an old Best Fortress (with new batteries). Those things
are built like a tank, and it works out of the box in Fedora 14
(nut-2.6.2) thanks to the bestfortress driver still in the project. It
had disappeared for 2.0, but I sent it in for 2.2, and you guys kept it going.

[LLVMdev] Vector ops out of loops
Hi all,
Is there any optimization pass which can move vector ops out of loops ?
For example:
typedef short short2 __attribute__((ext_vector_type(2)));
short2 a[50],b[50],c;
void test() {
for (i=0; i<50; i++) {
c.y += a[i].x * b[i].y;
}
}
clang in -O3 gives me the following IR:
@i = common global i32 0, align 4
@a = common global [50 x <2 x i16>] zeroinitializer, align 4

Systemd sequencing problem in Fedora 16,17
I am running nut in Fedora 17 (previously 16). There is a bug in
startup that I think I understand well enough to explain. The symptom
is that upsd refuses to start at boot time, complaining:

logging strategy
Cheers,
I don't think there is any particular strategy, at least not one I'd know
of either :) So it is mostly ad-hoc, to keep smaller verbosity numbers
reasonably quiet, and sufficient info to see the logic progression at a
given debug level (e.g. if major milestones of a routine are logged at
level N, further traces like "I saw value X here" would be N+1 or more).
De-facto

bestfortress driver establishes/loses/establishes communication and so on...
[As posted as Ubuntu Question #184284 on Launchpad]
Hi, I try to set up nut (2.4.3) on my Lucid (10.04.3 LTS) to make use of
my old but very trusty UPS (Best Power Fortress 660 LI).
Yes, this UPS is old (about 16 years), but with its third battery pack
last week it is as good as new. It runs perfectly well with Windows XP,
Vista and even Windows 7. But not so with Ubuntu and nut.

Team Fortress 2 Bug Fix Undone by New Patch
Okay, so awhile back I had a problem with Steam. It wouldn't start and so I fixed that after installing a minimal version of winetricks (I removed a few things I knew I wouldn't need). Then Steam worked.
Unfortunately I then had a problem with Team Fortress 2. This time the game wouldn't load. So I read the AppDB for Team Fortress 2 again and it said to disable Steam Community

fortress forever doesnt show up in games list
I can install other hl2 mods and they show up in my games list and run fine, however whenever I install fortress forever it doesn't show up. I've even tried the shortcut that installs from the setup. But when I run that it just says loading source sdk base and nothing happens. There is no useful terminal output either. This is on wine 1.1.19. Help would be very much appreciated.

Team Fortress 2 gaminfo.txt
Hello, I'm trying to run Team Fortress 2 on Linux using Wine 1.0.
I tried starting the game from Steam, but it shows the loading TF2 window, then closes and never starts the game.
I know the game isn't supposed to run on Linux, but I have a question about gameinfo.txt.
I tried starting hl2.exe in:
/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/steam/steamapps\*user*\team fortress 2
folder, but it said I

Team Fortress 2 Issues
Hello there,
After downloading the latest version of wine, latest graphics drivers and install Steam through PlayOnLinux, I tried to launch Team Fortress 2.
The initial Valve sound played and then the menu soud, but there was absolutely no video/display. Checking the processes list, hl2.exe was still running, so obviously something is going wrong here.
My system should be fine, as I used to run

No scoreboard in Team Fortress 2
I'm using openSUSE 11.1 KDE 4.1 and I'm trying to install Team Fortress 2 which I installed by clicking run with wine on the setup.exe which was on the DVD. Steam installed installed with no problems, But when I start TF2:
1.I get no background image in the menu,
2. there is no crossair in the game,
3. the scoreboard doesn't appear by click tab,
4. the frag notifications doesn't

Team Fortress and steam friends list
I haven't been able to find a way yet, but is it possible to somehow have steam run not in a virtual desktop or at least a seperate virtual desktop than team fortress 2? If I could alt tab or switch desktop spaces and be able to access steam from my taskbar so I can talk to my friends in the game (since in-game overlay doesn't work) Or join them using the steam friends options without

Problems with sound and video when running team fortress
I am using version 1.0, and when I try to start team fortress 2, the loading and menu screen are all skewed and messed up, and the sound just loops over and over. Then when I quit, my screen resolution does not revert to what it's supposed to be.

[LLVMdev] Fortress project calls it quits due to lack of a decent VM
One sort of questions why a company the size of Oracle, working with DARPA funding, wouldn't have the resources to design the virtual machine they required for the project... although reading the article they never do *quite* say that Fortress is being put down... just that the research group is winding down on it, the JVM target work isn't going to be completed, and the current

[PATCH] VMXNET3: Add support for virtual IOMMU
This patch adds support for virtual IOMMU to the vmxnet3 module. We
switch to DMA consistent mappings for anything we pass to the device.
There were a few places where we already did this, but using pci_blah();
these have been fixed to use dma_blah(), along with all new occurrences
where we've replaced kmalloc() and friends.
Also fix two small bugs:
