OT rpmforge rpm is not putting Dag repo info in yum.conf
I should change this to OT, as it's not really CentOS related.
I had a post on the list last week asking how the rpmforge rpm was to be
implemented in yum. Craig White was kind enough to list how his yum.conf is
appended, I assume after he installed the rpm.
Unfortunately, mine is not appended with these lines. I am running CentOS 3.
I will add these lines manually, and probably remove

DVD rom questions
I'm running CentOS 3 and have just installed a Liteon lightscribe DVD/CD
unit. I firstly realized I didn't know exactly how to mount it, as /dev/dvd
didn't exist, I didn't want to generate anything if it already existed, and
I didn't want to mess up my cdrom unit that works just fine.
I mounted the device though the X window just to see how it might mount, and
find that it

tzdata
I read a few days back on the list where the tzdata rpm was to take care of
the new DST rules. I run CentOS 3 servers, and did a 'yum update tzdata' ,
but received a 2006a update of the rpm.
Is this proper? It sure didn't fix anything.
Thanks

tzdata - extra info.
Sorry for the extra info required, but I had digest mode turned on and
wouldn't have received the mailing till tomorrow.
I have since updated the data manually, but after 'yum update tzdata' was
run, the zdump -v for EST5EDT and America/New_York all still showed a date
of April 1, instead of March 11. After manually fixing, it is correct.
This was mostly a question about why yum

Login screen changes
I tested moving a box from Tao 1.0 to CentOS 3.7. All went well, as far as I
can tell, with the OS upgrades, but I needed to rpm -ivh --force the
desktop-* stuff. This was a minor thing to fix for no real purpose other
than to just be doing it.
I still get, though, the Tao screens when the graphic login screen appears.
I have changed the Application->Settings->Login Screen->

New member, new OS, old Tao user
Mr. Parsley, the main man at the Tao Linux group, has announced that he will
no longer be able to do his thing for Tao Linux. Just recently, I had
decided to investigate CentOS 4 before his announcement, and liked a lot of
what I saw. Due to the Tao announcement, I have decided that CentOS will
"have" to be the OS for my company in the future. Hence, my new membership
to this list.

Complex sendmail alias handling
Getting in late on this one, but if I didn't need to spend money, couldn't
spend money, or what ever the reason may be, and the aliasing was something
that needed changing on a schedule, then why not just set up multiple alias
files, run cron to replace them when needed, and "newaliases", all in cron
scripts? You would need to maintain as many versions as required, but sounds

Netgear FA312 Wake-on-Lan problem
I have just noticed what appears to be a problem with my CentOS 3.7 servers
shutting down. I have Netgear FA312 NICs in some of my DELL PowerEdge 700
servers and this particular NIC has WOL ability. I cannot turn this off in
the BIOS or limit the error responses. When I do a "halt", the server goes
only as far as closing the ethernet card and stops, resulting in a hardboot

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:
[dag]

rpmforge.repo
How come rpmforge.repo wants to install a whole slew of perl modules,
yet if I leave rpmforge.repo out of the update process, none of the perl
modules shows up? Here's the rpmforge.repo file.. do any of yall see
anything wrong with anything in there?

Clarification Needed: DAG vs. rpmforge.
Dag in the thread about kvirc, I had pointed to dries repo, based on a
list of repos I use *now*, that replaced your repo with rpmforge. This
based on an instruction earlier that I should use rpmforge instead. So
when I run my "yum --enablerepo=\* list...", it did not show your repo
contents.
Should I be including *both* rpmforge and dag?
TIA

I am sharing a yum configuration in a class (centos.pp) between two

even tho it does to another identically configured node.

Dag repository...
A bit of a new guy around these parts...
I've done a bit of looking, and haven't found any newbie-friendly
instructions on how to add the Dag repository to my CentOS4 box. Could
somebody help me out and point me in the right direction? Thanks...

Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi:
I have a mirror of dag repository
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used
by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote
server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit
with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error:
#yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios

repos...
is rpmforge now considered 'friendly' with EPEL?
I normally only use EPEL as an addition repo, but one package I want to
install on this one system is ffmpeg, and I'm finding it on rpmforge
only... but its install wants to mix epel and rpmforge packages...

Centos 4 repos help me!
Dear CentOS Community
Is totally clear there's no support to Centos 4 platform today, but I need
to install some packages -ideally- from repositories, so I'll be glad if
someone can provide me still working ones, (obviously non-official).
If isn't possible I'll move on CentOS5, but (initially) keeping current PHP
and MySQL versions.
In both cases, I'll need working CentOS4

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all.
I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find
a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed
all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed.
Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now?
Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry
it's a little bit long:
[root at karsites ~]# yum --enablerepo '*' --disablerepo
