RHEL changes

Yes, in two possible ways.
First, Red Hat could stop making RHEL. The amount of work that goes into
this is _quite_ significant, particularly in terms of the long-term
stability that everyone is very excited about. Rebuild projects would then
have nothing to rebuild.
But, Red Hat

CentOS Stream suitability as a production webserver

No, this was an actual problem I had back in April 2020. Upgrading from CR
broke imagemagick, so I couldn't use the corresponding PHP modules, so my
Roundcube installation was broken for a few weeks.
One of the things I like about Oracle Linux is that they

Any reason Asterisk won't start without a rebuild on a cloned VPS?
Any ideas why a VPS, cloned from another instance (DigitalOcean
"droplets" if it matters), won't run on the new instance?
Everything else is the same; region, memory, disk, hypervisor version etc.
And everything else runs, just not Asterisk, unless I do a make
distclean in the /usr/src/asterisk directory, rebuild, and then it
runs just fine.
I'd understand if I was moving it

freezing to Rails 1.0 for a production site
Hi,
I have a shared web hosting account. Currently the hosting company has
Rails 1.0 but I''m sure they will upgrade to Rails 1.1 sometime soon. I
don''t want my site to break if anything with Rails 1.1 will cause a
break. How do I freeze my app to Rails 1.0? I imagine I download the
rails source into the vendor directory. But from where to download and
how to configure my app to

Securing tinc config files
Hi Guus
Yeah I kinda thought of that only once I hit the "Send" button .... I guess
I have two options ,
1. Manage my own server with public ip address
2. Trust my VPS provider LOL....
I read this from digitalocean "Privacy Policy"
Server Data
*DigitalOcean does not have access to its users? server data. The backend
is locked away from the users? support staff and only

Share names causing big troubles
I work for a school dist, and I am having a bit of trouble with the "Student
Server" We have about 3000 students all with their own accounts. I had the
samba server setup to share their home directories but their home
directories are the same as their login name. So jamie.mcparland would be an
example of a share name. But in Win 9X it gets truncated to jamie.mcparla
then we get the error

Improving packets/sec and data rate - v1.0.24
Niklas - Thanks! Yeah, your Github issue was very useful for me to
understand what is probably causing our issue (the syscall chain done on
every UDP packet). Very interesting that you're able to see around 90%
of a Gig line on bare metal. Were you ever able to make any further
progress on adjusting Tinc based on the investigation in
https://github.com/gsliepen/tinc/issues/110 ?

Securing tinc config files
Thanks Guus
So based of this , having your central tinc server in VPS Provider , will
allow potentially the provider to replicate your config files and thus
exposing all your remote sites connected. My situation I face is all my
remote sites have dynamic addresses ,and in order for me to create a
connection point between the sites is to have a central server in cloud
with public address. Therefor

[HELP] RoR Fedena App Installation: Rake Gem
I''m really a newbie with RoR.
But I need to deploy this app as soon as possible.
RoR App: Fedena
RoR Ver: 1.8.7
When I type any rake commands I always encounter this problem:
rake aborted!
uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Dependencies::Mutex
Locally, I did find the solution for this problem by downgrading my Rake
Gem version from 0.9.2 to 0.8.7.. The problem is installing it on

Sorry to repost this question.. But I am at my wits end.. The server has
been off line for 2 weeks. So I will have to downgrade to samba 2.X by the
end of the day unless a miracle happens ;)
I'm having some issues with samba 3 and my ldap passwords. First I'll tell
you what I'm working with.

3. This is frequent enough that you cannot manage it.
Thank you. Please contact me off-list about it.

map to two different win2k shares with two different accounts?
I try and map to two separate shares as two separate users (default RH 7.3 installed rpms) from a win2k client (plaintext passwords, not a pdc or anything just a workgroup server) - First one maps fine, second gets:
[Windows error dialog]: The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password.
To connect using a different user name and password, first
