Hi! I have been learning rails for a couple of week now. Mostly i''ve worked on a authorize/roles system and now i go to the point that i want to separate it from en rest of my application to share it with others and to use it in other projects. It is a quite simple system that i implement using before_filter. My vision is to separate the authorize methods and even some basic

How to avoid overlapping labels
Hi Remko, thanks for your answer. but i do not really understand how to use the commands. if i want to use thigmophobe.labels(x,y,) do i need to identify the xy coordinates for each point first and then manually move every point? and if i neet to do so how to use the identify() function? or is there any possibility to automatically place the labels in the best position? >MatArab <-

Hello all. I have a samba 3.0.31, compiled and running on a freebsd 6.3-p3 and he work?s fine. But in some situations ( situations not discovered yet ) the use o cpu is very high, as you can see in the top command above. In my /var/log/messages i see this message, but i dont know what is, and what i neet to do. Enable log file on smb.conf i don't see anybody strange, i guess... So,

Optim (fct): Parameters=LowerBounds
There's no reason that the optimum cannot be at the bounds. Bounded problems really do sometimes have solutions on those bounds. Compute the unconstrained gradient of your objective function at the bounds and see if the function is reduced when going across the bounds. The function here is assumed to be the neg. LL that one is MINIMIZING. There are many aspects of R, optimization in

g++ verfsion
Hi, Li, Thanks for reply. It is strange that I used RBGL_1.6.0 successfully on the same linux system with R 2.3.1 before! After trying to install R 2.5.1, the RBGL_1.12.0 failed to be installed. Then, I uninstalled R. Delete the directory R/lib/. Installed R.2.3.1 again. And run getBioC1.8.5 for R 2.3.1 to download the three packages graph_1.10.6, RBGL_1.12.0 and Ruuid_1.10.0. But still

What is the right script: W2K AD, Solaris8-SMB/KRB/LDAP, Win Clients?
I'm so confused about the use of Samba. This is my situation: I have one Win2k domain with Active Directory. The main network has only one PDC, but in others networks I have 5 servers more, all under the same main domain (I don't have subdomains). I need to put some files in a Solaris 8 and 9 servers that Win2kPro and WinXP can to access, with its domain accounts. Aditionally, I

playlist script
Hi, I am looking for a script for icecast that will generate playlists with a few requirements. For example, our station broadcasts 3 styles of techno, and it sounds wierd when you drop a more mello trance style track in the middle of a hard house style set. so I need to be able to say, play 7 songs of type 1 then 7 songs of type 2 etc. Also some songs should get a higher frequency in the

FW: test of spatial dependence?? - ask a geographer (was ask an ecologist)?
No, you do not necessarily need the XY coordinates. You can also use polygon (field, in your case) adjacency information. See Rogerson, Peter A. 2001. _Statistical methods for geography_. Thousand Oaks: Sage. You might also look at GeoDA, a free and soon-to-be open source spatial analysis package. For your application, it might be easier to use than R. Redirect to intranet webserver if not on maclist
First off, I want to say that everyone on this list is great. So heres what I want to do..I have a maclist setup with all my users (roughly 400). There are constantly people leaving (deleting their accounts which removes their MAC address) and registering for internet access ( I have a php webserver that registers them, adds them to the maclist, and allows them on the net). Is there a way to
