Using R for Production - Discussion
Hello Group,
This is an open-ended question.
Quite fascinated by the things I can do and the control I have on my
activities since I started using R.
I basically have been using this for analytical related work off my desktop.
My experience has been quite good and most issues where I need to
investigate and solve are typical items more related to data errors, format
corruption, etc... not

Does R have function/package works similar to SAS's 'PROC REG'?
Hello,
I am working on a variable selection problem and I wonder whether there is
some function or package in R works similar to the 'PROC REG' in SAS? Thank
you.
Some facts about 'PROC REG':
PROC REG in SAS first composes a crossproducts matrix. The matrix can be
calculated from input data, reformed from an input correlation matrix, or
read in from an SSCP data set. For each

Returning the mock associated with an expectation.
I was reading through the FlexMock docs and noticed the expectation
method .mock, which returns the original mock associated with an
expectation.
It looks really handy for writing nice all-in-one mocks like:
mock_user = mock(''User'').expects(:first_name).returns(''Jonah'').mock
So I started playing around with mocha and found I could actually
already do this!

Last call before syslinux 2.08
I am planning to release SYSLINUX 2.08 in the next day or so; basically
2.08-pre9 without any further changes.
So, I would appreciate any and all testers for this...

regressing each column of a matrix on all other columns
DeaR list
I would like to predict the values of each column of a matrix A by
regressing it on all other columns of the same matrix A. I do this with
a for loop:
A <- B <- matrix(round(runif(10*3,1,10),0),10)
A
for (i in 1:length(A[1,])) B[,i] <- as.matrix(predict(lm( A[,i] ~
A[,-i] )))
B
It works fine, but I need it to be faster. I've looked at *apply but
just can't

Who uses R with multicore, SNOW or CUDA package for resource intense computing?
Hi,
who of you in this forum uses R (http://www.r-project.org/) with the
multicore, SNOW or CUDA packages, so for advanced calculations that need
more power than a workstation CPU? On which hardware do you compute these
scripts? At home/ at work or do you have data center access somewhere?
The background of these questions is the following: I am currently writing
my M.Sc. thesis about R and

Pls help on Shorewall installation
Hi all,
This might be more suitable for the shorewall list, but no one has replied yet
for several days. I'm trying bandwidth management feature of
shorewall-3.4.1-3 on Centos 4.4
with no updates.
I've got this error:

CLEAR_TC=Yes & TC_ENABLED=No
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I found a problem with my tcstart script.
First I was running system TC enabled for testing and then to stop all
TC I changed TC_ENABLED=No.
But I started to wonder why shorewall restart did _not_ clear TC rules
after TC was disabled?
So I checked firewall and found out that if TC_ENABLED=No TC_CLEAR is
disabled automatically.
Question is: should

help with broken voicemail
I can not figure out what the heck is going on. I went back to my old
version and I still get errors when the voicemail system tries to load
any of the greetings, unavail messages, etc. the normal voicemail
prompts work, but any user recording don't work. Leaving a new message
appears to work, but the system wont replay them, it throws errors.
Here is an example of the errors:

Hi guys
I'm at a loss in getting ./configure to complete successfully with asterisk 1.4.6 on
Fedora 7 x86_64, as it complains about no termcap support, even though it is installed

Any ideas where to go next?

TC: Simple and complex configs interplay
Hello,
From a user perspective, the simple (tcpri) and complex TC configs
offers two rather distinct choices. A user can very well be OK with
only using the simple way and that''s very fine. Then again, even in
doing so, the more complex config options are available. What is the
interplay between the two as far as having some parameters configured
in both at the same time ? So far
