mrtg monitoring shaped traffic
Dave,
In a post to LARTC on 18 Sep 06 you said "I run MRTG on all outbound
traffic".
I''m a newbie with respect to mrtg. I have rrdtool and mrtg built on my
Linux box but I have no SNMP so "nothing works".
Could you please provide basic instructions for implementing mrtg with
respect to traffic shaping?
What is needed? Net-SNMP? OpenSNMP? If yes, what is SNMP used

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all.
I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire
next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out
there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work.
I have both installed. Single server, polling itself.
Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can
get OID and MIBs from it?
Question 2- does anyone know the command

mrtg 2.16.2 ipv6 on centos 6
Hi,
i'm running CentOS 6.0 on my server and installed mrtg from the
rpm-package mrtg-2.16.2 .
I also installed the depending packages perl-IO-Socket-INET6
perl-Socket6 ....
mrtg works fine with IPV4-Addresses. When i specify a Target by
IPV6-Address (or hostname resolving to a V6-address) mrtg fails.
Here i have a small sample-config for V4 which is working:

CentOS/SNMP update breaks MRTG?
I got itchy fingers over the weekend and decided to fix what wasn't
broken and upgraded one of the older servers from Centos 5.2 to Centos
5.3. Following the recommended process of updating glibc and such
before the rest, it appeared to work perfectly and rebooted without
problem.
However, MRTG 2.15.2 started complaining about unexpected values. I
installed/updated both MRTG (2.16.2) and

error "SNMP V3 libraries not found, SNMPV3 disabled.". so, i installed all
the net-snmp but still showing the error. I can't find any suggestion on

Tracking Traffic By Port or Process?
Does anyone know of a way to track TCP/IP traffic by TCP/UDP port
and/or by process/daemon with CentOS? I know a variety of ways to
track it in total (e.g., ifInOctets & ifOutOctets with SNMP), but I'm
not sure how to be approach seeing traffic by application, port, or
process.
One option would be to write something that would sift through
different stuff for each daemon (for example,

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
Hi Kerry,
Some time ago I had to setup mrtg graphing too.
I'll try to give a short outline of what I did:
1. how do I get listener numbers into MRTG?
2. how to interface XSLT with MRTG?
3. how to set up MRTG?
1. I chose to use the xslt-features provided by Icecast and placed files called lstn-*.xsl for every mountpoint in the icecast web-root. The sole purpose of this xslt-sheet is

QoS net-snmp ?
Hi
I''ve patched net-mrtg http://www.net-snmp.org/
with http://x-ray.prokon.cz/data/snmp/
sucefully
Also I''ve copied QOS.TXT to /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs
when I make a normal use of snmp, with mrtg in order
to monitor all traffic on eth0 and eth1, it works
OK.
But, how must I do in order to get monitor for a
specific class ?
If I make a snmpwalk (like README suggest), I get

snmp mrtg physCPU
Hallo xenusers,
I search a simple variant to generate CPU,Load for MRTG.
Actually I use following configuration.
But I see CPU-usage of xen0 only, not a summary of all VM.
- net-snmp does not support xen [1].
- dtc-xen [2] show CPU-usage from each VM, but not summary.
This view is confusing. [3]
For monitorings from more than 3 physical machines unpractically.
- enomalism [4] is too large

snmp, cacti and shaping
Hi
I''m trying to move the tracking of the shaping from MRTG to Cacti. My
predecessor, who built all this stuff and was far more advanced than I,
had a shell script that collected data by running tc -s qdisc show dev
on both eth 0 and 1 and then pushing it out via snmp to another server
running MRTG. I''m building a new server with cacti and having trouble
with the custom

Monitor Network Traffic
What is the best way to monitor the total incoming / outcoming network traffic of CentOS server. I think that the solution is to monitor the network interfaces and to send SNMP packets to remote server. But is it possible?

MRTG Problem - no traffic recorded
Hi all,
I've just recently replaced my old firewall with a new one, running
CentOS 5..
Yesterday, I decided to get MRTG up and running again, so I entered
sections like this into the mrtg.conf file:
Title[vlan10]: Bandwidth usage on tenchi.4th-age.com (Internet)
PageTop[vlan10]: <H1>Traffic stats on VLAN 10 (Internet)</H1>
Target[vlan10]: `ifconfig vlan10 |

Darkstat
Hi all,
please, tell me about security of Darkstat. Is it good idea to install it on
firewall/gateway ?
I'd like to measure our company traffic, but I do not have Apache running on
the gateway. How could I redirect Darkstat's output to web-server inside
company ?
Or is there some other tool, which can measure in/out traffic and send
output to another machine ? I know MRTG, but it uses

Boot Bug
Hi I have noticed that some versions of syslinux later than 1.66 fail to
install a working boot block on a CF card in Soekris net4521 board. The
Bios is:
comBIOS ver. 1.05 20020419 Copyright (C) 2000-2001 Soekris Engineering.
The card is a 64M Sandisk and I am useing a version of LEAF called
WISP-dist but I also experianced the same problem with the Bering
distro. Here is my syslinux.cfg:

I'm trying to set up the SNMP service. I need it to use MRTG to graph some

can send me to tweak mine?
Thanks

SNMP problems
Dear All,
I don't know if this is the right list for this type of question and I
am sure I will be told if its not....
I am using Centos 3.3, with a 2.4.20-30.9 kernel on an Amd Opteron box.
I am using this kernel because
it has matching freeswan modules.
I am also using the following net-snmp packages:
net-snmp-5.0.9-2.30E.6
net-snmp-devel-5.0.9-2.30E.6
net-snmp-utils-5.0.9-2.30E.6
