Xen Version update policy
The latest bunch of test packages are available here: http://au1.mirror.crc.id.au/repo/el8/x86_64/ Hopefully, as of a few hours ago, this set should actually install. Currently, networking won't work as they require brctl - which isn't in EL8. I've written patches for this, but they'll probably end up being part of a cleanup of everything in /etc/xen/scripts/ Problem is,

CentOS Stream 8 sssd.service failing part of sssd-common-2.8.1-1.el8.x86_64 baseos package
Hello everybody, A recent update of the sssd-common-2.8.1-1.el8.x86_64 package is causing sssd.service systemctl failures all over my CentosOS machines. What is the best way to report this issue and when can we expect an update from the sssd-common package for this regression bug? I think sssd-common is part of the baseos repository and installed even when the configuration file is not

Hi, I am looking for centos-release-8.1-1.1911.0.9.el8.src.rpm. Does anyone know where to find it. The only thing I see in vault is centos-release-8.1-1.1911.0.8.el8.src.rpm. Regards, -- Tom me at tdiehl.org

centos 8-Streams kernel?
Heh, Your sentiments on the website very much mirror my own, although I?m more focused on server applications rather than on desktop (we use Macs and Ubuntu for that). When Red Hat announced Streams, I was terrified at first and my first instinct was to switch to Rocky or a similar 1:1 distro, but then thought there might be something good coming out of the whole ordeal. And indeed it did, we

epoch rpm el8 obsolete?
I am building a new workstation based on EL8 now. As someone else here mentioned, the raw EL8 distribution is unusable as a workstation. Therefore I am building lot of additional packages. Today I came across a problem with a custom package with an Epoch version, that kills the yum/dnf update process (it tries to find a "best" package etc.). My actually question; is the RPM Epoch

thunderbird-102.7.1-1.el8 breaks OAuth authentication
It seems that thunderbird-102.7.1-1.el8 (at least on CentOS Stream) broke OAuth authentication with outlook.office365.com. Downgrading to 102.4.0-1.el8 resolved the issue. Error console reports: XHR POST https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/token [HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request 293ms] Is anyone else seeing this? -- Orion Poplawski he/him/his - surely the least important thing

EL8: SElinux / dac_override / tmpwatch
Hi, I'm moving some old stuff from EL6 to EL8 and one setup has a cron job which uses "tmpwatch -umc $dir" to clean some directories (/etc/cron.daily/tmpwatch). It seems that this triggers this AVC (SElinux mode is enforcing): type=AVC msg=audit(1598576896.772:4267): avc: denied { dac_override } for pid=11013 comm="tmpwatch" capability=1
