Version of kgdb for CentOS 4.4 Plus 2.6.9 kernel
Does anyone happen to know the correct version of kgdb to use for debugging the 2.6.9 kernel? Version 2.4 is apparently for the 2.6.15 kernel, and version 2.2 is for the 2.6.13 kernel, but I've read all the way through the documentation and nowhere does it say which kgdb goes with which kernel. Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 doesn´t boot
Hi, after upgrading with yum upgrade my server doesn?t boot with kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.plus.c4 d. Kernel CentOS-4 x86_64 (2.6.9-34.EL) works just fine. I use 2 HDD as RAID1. Unfortunaly this is a root server so i do not have any console output. This is rather disappointing cause i run mission critical applications on the server. I guess the updates should be used with more caution. Regards,

files in a directory limitation
Just curious but is there a limitation on the number of files in a directory? I am using ext3. I'm not concerned about file size just the number of files. Thanks, Jerry

NVidia Quadro4 200/400 NVS CentoOS 4.4
I've put a Nvidia Quadro card in my machine. It was first detected as Quadro4 200/400 NVS. I have the pigtail for dual monitors. I've tried tweaking the xorg file to get it working, to no avail. So I then downloaded the 9631 version driver from Nvidia. The readme for the newer files said that they didn't support this card. I run the installer, it builds the module, but gets

gnbd vs drbd
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Up until now, I have been using drbd for file custers with great success. Yes, it is a PITA, and sometimes you can get annoying sincronization issues (mostly on lab situations). Now I have been considering giving gnbd (with cs/gfs) a try. Do any of you ever crossed this path ? Any comparisons or comments ? TIA, - -- Rodrigo Barbosa "Quid

Re: Reboots -- LSB 2.1 Core Generic Section 8.5
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > There is nothing wrong with using X11 at runlevel 3. The only thing > that can't be present is a display manager (KDM, XDM, GDM etc). That's _exactly_ what I'm talking about. Run-level 3 starts xdm. Several Linux distros use 2 for multi-user, 3 for multi-user w/X. Run-level 2 as multi-user w/o networking or w/o NFS was

CentOS vs. Nokia Phones
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have been trying to access my Nokia 6230 using a DKU-2 data cable from CentOS, with some weird results. Interesting thing is that I have VMWare installed on this machine and, if I install the Nokia Suite inside it, it can access the phone without problems. So all hardware related parts are working. Anyway, kernel load the cdc_acm module, and gives

ssh key with redundant targets?
Is there a way to tell ssh that it is OK that the target of a command may be one of several machines, not necessarily the one it stuck in ~/.ssh/known_hosts last time around? This might be due to DNS round-robin or an HA failover. Setting StrictHostKeyChecking to no in /etc/ssh/ssh_config allows commands to complete but it still prints the warning which confuses people. -- Les Mikesell

chown and chgrp on 4.5 vs 5.0
I just noticed that on centso 4.5 I have an executable with the +s (chmod +s myexe) doing a chmod root myexe and chown root myexe does NOT affect the +s setting. However, on centos 5 this is not the case. chmod +s myexe chown root myexe or chgrp root myexe will DROP the +s status. How can I get around this? I want to keep the owner, group, world settings. Thanks, Jerry
