Arcview 3.2
"worked" (except mostly font glitches & help) on Wine 1.2.3 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS since I installed it ~6 months ago. I used it daily, until 4 days ago, about the time I installed QGIS. Since then it won't launch: jack at freekbox:~$ env WINEPREFIX="/home/jack/.wine" wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix /home/jack/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/jack/Start\

Q about 5.3 qt and qgis
Guess I'll find out soon enough ... In order to get qgis to build by RPM in CentOS 5.2 I had to update qt - but the shared library did not version - http://forum.qgis.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4423 Since the qt shared library did not version with the minor update to qt, my suspicion (though I don't know for sure as I didn't look at source) is that the minor version bump was a

Trying to rename spatial pts data frame slot that isn't a slot()
Dear List, I am analyzing the home range area of fish and seem to have lost the individuals ID names during my manipulations, and can't find out how to rename them. I calculated the MCP of the fish using mcp() in Adehabitat. MCP's were converted to spatial points data frame and exported to qGIS for manipulations. At this point the ID names were lost. I brought the manipulated

Help with RGDAL
Hello, We (two mac users) have been attempting to install rgdal from "http://www.kyngchaos.com/software:frameworks", given that it is not available as a binary on the CRAN (binaries) of the "Package Installer". I have also tried to solve this problem by looking on the net for an old question, and though I have found it, the answers do not help very much because our porgraming

[SoC 2009] will R Foundation participate? project proposal: fractal analysis
Hello R developers, I know it is still a bit early to talk about Summer of Code, but I wish to know what are, approximately, plans for this year. Last year I applied as a student under OSGeo with a QGIS-R project and had a very positive experience [0], therefore I plan to participate again. I found an interesting hint [1], about implementing fractal analysis in R, and a would-be mentor has

files-from and filter from one file?
Hi, I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have tried millions of combinations of settings. Is it possible to somehow combine --files-from and --filter into one file, so that I can use one here-document? Using the + directive in --filter seems to always give me slightly different results. What I do now is without --files-from, but it means the directory tree is not recreated on the

problem for installing rgdal
Hello, I run [R] 2.14 on Mac OS 10.6 and I've been desperately trying to install rpy2 in order to compute spatial statistics on QGIS 1.7.3. rpy2 is dependent upon the rgdal [R]package that I've been unable to install in spite of up to date versions of GDAL and PROJ. More precisely, [R] console writes "Error: gdal-config not found". As a matter of fact, typing

Passwordless SSH messes with escaped spaces
Hi, I'm trying to use rsync through ssh to pull files from PCs that need to be backup up. I set up the passwordless authentication and things work fine there. However there's a problem when I try to seal off the SSH access to restrict it to limited rsync only using the "command=" in authorized_keys. That by itself works, however not in combination with spaces in the file names.

Problem to manage permission to a share from windows
Hi, I’ve successfully joined an ubuntu 16.04 machine, as member serverm, to an active directory domain Windows server 2012 R2 following the instructions in the wiki.samba.org “Setting up Samba as a Domain Member” now I have to set acl using Windows acl on a share. For that I followed the instruction in the “Setting up a Share Using Windows ACLs”. I also granted the SeDiskOperatorPrivilege to the

CentOS, PHP, Basic GIS
I have no experience with GIS whatsoever. I really know squat about it. I'm currently working on a project to plot locality data for wildlife on a map of Shasta County. This is for a new herpetological club that hopes to track strength of our local herp populations, since it seems evident that in the last 20 years we lost one species of frog and are close to losing another (probably less

R: cannot list/access samba share from Windows client
Thanks for the rapid reply! I think the problem was in the server role options I’ve modified it in “server member” and now I’m able to list the shares under \\linuxserver from any domain user authenticated in a Windows pc AD member. But now 1. Execute computer management from a Windows domain member client as a domain admin user (run as com_spoleto\rossetti.admin that is a “domain admins” member
