DTrace MFC broke kldstat(2) on RELENG_7
Hi, I recently noticed that kldstat(8) started to dump core for me on RELENG_7. I traced the problem down to kldstat(2). r182231 (DTrace MFC) introduced a new version of kld_file_stat struct and added some code to support the old version of the structure in kldstat(). In the new code the old structure is known as kld_file_stat_1. Unfortunately there's a bug in this code: kldstat() copies

[OT] Witty one liners or computer related proverbs
Dear All, I need some witty computer related proverbs or one liners that some of have used in the past as footers for your emails for example. I particularly remember a PERL based transliteration joke/footer that when run in PERL produces a witty output.... This is to fix a problem internally created by an over zealous salesman at my company pinning up A4 sheets with bullSh*t sales proverbs

Survival Analysis
Hello, I have few questions about recurring events. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can assist me. I have data that consist of approx 1,100 Consecutive patients released from hospital after first Myocardial infarction (MI). They were followed for 13 years. Recurrent MI and unstable angina pectoris (UAP) leading to hospitalization were recorded (within-subject range: 0-4 for recurrent MI;

Kernel-loadable Root Kits
Thanks for the module, I think its a good idea to commit it to FreeBSD for a few reasons: 1) Some folks just prefer more static kernels. 2) Securelevel is a great thing, but can be a pain to do upgrades around remotely. [A lot of folks use FreeBSD simply because its a breeze to run remotely]. 3) Until someone writes code to add modules to a kernel via /dev/mem and releases it to the script

Kernel panic on FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE
Hi, I need some help to understand a backtrace. The situation is as follows: A diskless system acting as a kind of bandwithshaping firewall with both ipfw2 and ipfilter active at the same time. Ipfilter is used for port adress translation. The system panics about once every 6 hours. The network load is very low, only one Windows XP machine is connected but not actively used. I added a disk

kmem_map too small: 260046848 total allocated
After about a day and a half or so of uptime, I'm getting the aforementioned panic on the server ... better then having it hang solid, but right now I'm not sure if this is replacing it, or just one being triggered earlier then the other ... First scan through Google, I came across some posts talking about NMBCLUSTERS ... since its at the same settings as my other server (the default)

Dumb Centos 8 DNF mirror question...
I have several Centos 8 machines that I update and every now and again I will go through and update all of them and one of them will get a slow mirror, like downloading the kernel at 50kb etc. With the newer version I am unable to figure out how to force it to update the mirror list and hopefully change to a faster mirror. I have searched but must not be using the right verbiage since I am unable

crashing ext3 is easy and reproducible
This is my crash script for 2.4.17-rc1 and rc2 It works exactly as expected first time. Second time your system is toast with an exception error. I think it kills the daemon. I've tried it with varying ram disk sizes, up to 256Mb and in UP and SMP mode. The only thing I've seen was putting two of them into a script with the intention of having a one stop crasher didn't

[LLVMdev] How to use EE->runFunction for a function with StructRet set?
Hi, I'm using LLVM 2.4 (but llvm-gcc 2.2) on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) for a small part-time project combining Witty (http://www.webtoolkit.eu) and the ExecutionEngine in LLVM. (This is my second week with any of these so I still lack a lot of basic knowledge.) Sometimes I want to call a function returing a struct (in this case std::string), thus hasStructRetAttr() is true for the Function
