Modules for using geostatistics for image classification
Hello everyone! I am using GRASS with spgrass6 for my work. I will be using variograms in the process of landsat image classification. I am quite ok with GRASS but am finding R really tough. I understand that spgrass6 is a link between GRASS and R which can read and write raster/vector layers. Out of really many packages in R, for generating variograms out of landsat images which packages of R

Aid with 3-D scatterplots
I am attempting to classify pixels from a Landsat image by using their associated numbers in bands 2, 3, and 4 (It's from an assignment on classification). To aid me, I want to create a 3-D scatterplot using the "cloud" command. Due to my ignorance of the finer plotting functions, I am unable to display the scale on the three axes or to display the grid. My dataframe (RS)

tune svm
Hello, I hope you can help me! I`m trying to tune svm parameters: cost and gamma for a landsat image classification, but I get an error and I can't understand it. I write this: > tune(svm, Class~., data = mdt01bis, ranges = list(gamma = 2^(-15:3), cost > = 2^(-5:15))) and R gives: Error en predict.svm(model, if (!is.null(validation.x)) validation.x else if (useFormula)

Debian Lenny packages for 3.3.1?
My Dom0 is setup very minimally as a Debian 5/Lenny. I see the current Xen package is 3.2-1, and I''d like to get the current 3.3.1 for the better VT support for HVMs. Does anyone out there have packages for this, as I''d rather not bulk up my Dom0 with the whole GCC toolchain necessary to compile 3.3.1. Thanks in advance. -- Chris ''Xenon'' Hanson, omo sanza

Madogram, rodogram, semi-variogram of satellite imagery
Greetings! Is there in any package for R which can help me generate madogram, rodogram, semi-variogram, cross variogram from landsat imagery. I intend to select portions of large imagery (i.e., obtain subsets) and generate the above said texture layers. A simple Google search led to me a result suggesting SpatialExtremes for generating madograms. However I am not sure about its capability to

Time series analysis with irregular time-series
Dear R users I am currently investigating time series analysis using an irregular time series. Our study is looking at vegetation change in areas of alien vegetation growth after clearing events. The irregular time series is sourced from Landsat ETM+ data, over a six year period I have 38 scenes. For certain periods I have monthly data while for others, images are up to three months apart. So far

R,S,Octave,Matlab:SUMMARY
Dear R makers and users. I summarize answers to my question. Thanks for your help. The conclusion seems to be that, in terms of performance with large datasets, Matlab=Octave > R > Splus5.1 > Splus5.0 but Matlab/Octave lack many of the stat functions of R/S, and, R does not have as many time-series functions as S+ (but see last message to r-announce by adrian.trapletti at

Match between Dom0 and DomU PV
I have a bit of a Xen theory question. I have a Debian 5 Lenny x64 Dom0 currently running two DomUs. One is an x64 built via Xen-tools, and it seems to be running great. The second (known as Alpha) is having some troubles, as I mentioned in my post "Ubuntu 8.04 DomU crash" to this list on 5/12/09. It is an x86/32 Ubuntu 8.04 that started life as an HVM and was rebuilt into a PV where

Advice on long for loop
I'd appreciate advice on the following: I've written an R function that uses 3 vectors (temperature, precipitation and potential evapotranspiration) for a given site, calculates a water budget (which implies few (<4) iterations), and, from thresults of this water budget, calculates a number of bioclimatic indices. Now I want to calculate these indices for a large number of sites

Thornthwaite Method in R
Hi,Has anybody worked with thornthwaite method to calculate the daily evapotranspiration ? I have used the following code to calculate monthly evaporation but what I need is daily evapotranspiration. Epot <- thornthwaite(Tave, lat, na.rm = FALSE) # Evaluates evapotranspiration for each month. Do you have any code which works for daily timestep ? Its more technical question, may be some

Energy estimation from encoded opus packets
As a diagnostic tool, I would like to try and determine if an opus packet is essentially silence or not, without decoding the packet. Do you have any advice on whether this is feasible and what parameters to examine in the Opus frame? Kevin O'Connor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

[LLVMdev] Identifying Compiler Options to Minimize Energy Consumption by Embedded Programs
Hi Everyone, I'd like to announce a project joint between the University of Bristol and Embecosm. In this project we hope to identify what effect a broad range of compiler options has on the energy consumption of different embedded platforms. To do this we are finding a set of relevant benchmarks, compiling them with different options and measuring their energy consumption on these platforms.

[OT] Does Energy Savings mode exist with BRI/PtP ?
Hello, I always thought that Energy Savings mode existed with ISDN Basic Rate Interface in Point -to-multi-Point but it didn't with Point-to-point. Is this correct ? Have you ever met a public PSTN switch configured to "cut" B ISDN channels in Point-to-point.signalling ? Regards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
