Hello, I have forwarded this to the shorewall-users list. You will find better support for this obscure problem there. Serious stability issues
We have encountered a number of problems with our firewall recently, and the past 24 hours have left me quite concerned. Here is what we are seeing: 1. Original firewall, a PentiumPro/200 with 96Mb RAM, serving approx 500 client PCs for a 10Mb internet connection. Running Mandrake 9.2, we began seeing severe swapping a few weeks, with kernel mem usage exceeding 200Mb. Given an ip_conntrack

Shorewall rpm failed dependency: iproute (ip is working)
Hello Shorewall gurus, as outlined on the shorewall site I have done the following after failure to install shorewall via the rpm: I have read all of the FAQ. I have read the quickstart guide with particular attention directed at the Mandrake solution. I have searched the mailing list archives (all old replies). I have studied the documentation index. I have previous experience using shorewall

Shorewall issues with GAIM
I am running Mandrake Linux 9.2 with Shorewall 1.4, and GAIM direct connect does not work, and it did before on my hardware router. Upon connection attempts, the program reports that the connection was attempted at 0.0.0.0:5190 for any user, and then promptly fails. The syslog does report that the packets were blocked. These are my stanzas in the rules file for shorewall configuration: DNAT

Shorewall redirect with Squid and Dansguardian
Hi all, I''ve just built Mandrake 10.1 on a Compaq Deskpro that I''ve built as a router/firewall and am redirecting port 80 outbound to force users through the Content Filter. I''ve run this setup on Mandrake 9.0 and 10.0 without any problems but this time the following happens. Squid is accessed through port 3128 and Dansguardian via 8080. If I set my browser on a

ip_conntrack_ftp & ip_nat_ftp not loading automatically
For some reason, ip_conntrack_ftp & ip_nat_ftp aren''t loading automatically. If I load them manually with modprobe FTP works. Both ip_conntrack_ftp & ip_nat_ftp are listed in the modules file - I haven''t mucked with the order at all, so I assume it''s right. I''m using Mandrake 9.2 but, as recommended, I uninstalled the Mandrake version of shorewall and

Sanity check for Shorewall and Openswan VPN and 2.6
I''m just looking for a quick sanity check to make sure what I''m finding is really all necessary here. I''m upgrading a gateway/firewall from Linux 2.4 to 2.6 using Mandrake 10.1. In the old 2.4 kernel I structured my firewall rules around the ipsec0 interface, which I understand isn''t present with Openswan running under 2.6 (no KLIPS). Ok, So as I start to

Mandrake 10 - Shorewall 2.0.3a problem
Hi !, I have this problem. On a Mandrake 10.0 server with all the updates (Kernel 2.6.3-15mdk, iptables-1.2.9-7mdk and shorewall-2.0.3a-1mdk), one of our internal users have to FTP some files to our external web server. I think we have the correct configuration and rules in shorewall, and have read the http://www.shorewall.net/FTP.html document. Still, our users can''t FTP to the

HTB. QoS and Shorewall
Group, I am reading about tc (traffic control) and willing to get my feet wet. As requirement, there should be HTB compiled in the kernel. I grabbed a Mandrake 8.2 distro, and didn''t installed the kernel source. Anyone knows if the HTB is compiled in Mandrake 8.2, or point a way to find that out? I tried to read the /usr/src/kernel.xxxxx/.config file, but it doesn''t exists.

PPTP connections through Shorewall - WinXP Workstation to Win2003 Server
The problem scenario I describe was reported previously in the Shorewall lists but its resolution does not seem to have made it into the lists. Scenario: Windows XP client seeking to establish a VPN connection to a Windows 2003 Server located behind a Shorewall firewall (running on Mandrake kernel 2.4.22-37mdk). The connection cannot be made, the client reports error code 721. Discussion:

Shorewall Documentation in PDF format
Hey gang, I was wondering if all that documentation could or has been put into PDF format. I usually like to download documentation and read it while I''m sitting comfortably at home and I don''t want to tie up the phone line all night. Thanks, Nino p.s. If so, please feel free to attach the PDF formatted document to my e-mail ;-)
