GLM Contingency table regressions
I have a contingency table with a 0/1 variable (fwr) that flags a particular condition, a weight variable (cnt) and other variables (e.g. zz) characterizing that observation of the table. I am trying to use GLM. By converting the variables to factors and running the following regression: fwr1<-factor(fwr) zz1<-factor(zz1) res1<-glm(fwr1 ~ zz1,weights=cnt) Is that appropriate? Paul M.

auto-blacklist
I have been getting a lot of dictionary attacks against my server and want to automatically add the IP address of the offender when their failed SSH login attempts are equal to five or more. I was just going to write a dumb BASH script to do this unless there is a more intelligent way? Eric

PostgreSQL & DBI or ???
The only database access package I see on CRAN is DBI. But is there a PostgreSQL driver for it yet? (where?) There is no sign of an RPgSQL package on CRAN either. What to do? Performances network samba
Hi all, I 'm new here. We have installed OpenOffice in a "network" mode onto a samba share named \\openoffice\ooo (linux Mandrake9.2) The performances are slowest (a 10M network) I was wondering if there is a simple way to optimise performances beetween a samba share and the win2k clients, a cache or something similar ? Thanks for any help. Xavier

Diablo2 performances
Hello. I'm trying to run Diablo 2 under wine. The game installs fine (D2 + LoD + Patch 1.11b), but I experience some serious performances issues. Wine is set to Windows XP mode (otherwise, the game protection doesn't work). The game is very sluggish when the minimap is open, when setting the key binding, or on battle.net menus. The only choice I got from D2VidTst.exe is DirectDraw HAL.

Dear support, I need to export gluster volume with LIO for a virtualization system. winbind normalize names = yes disable winbind cache mechanism and cause LDAP heavy load / poor performances
Context : client linux Ubuntu 12.04 SSO authentification against Microsoft 2008 AD server, Winbind 3.6.3 (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Linux 3.2.0-27-generic, winbind 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3 ) I'have discovered that setting option "winbind normalize names = yes" cause winbind client to send LDAP search for each username/group resolution even those in cache. Setting this option to

2gig limit
I'm running into a 2gig file limit when copying files from a linux machine running smbmount 3.0.2a-Debian and kernel 2.4.23 connecting to another debian machine running smbd 3.0.2a-Debian with the stock 2.4.18-bf2.4 kernel that comes with debian stable (though the machine has been upgraded to sid). If I run this on the client side dd if=/dev/zero of=test.junk bs=1k it eventually fails at

GlusterFS 3.7 - slow/poor performances
Dear all, I have a crash test cluster where i?ve tested the new version of GlusterFS (v3.7) before upgrading my HPC cluster in production. But? all my tests show me very very low performances. For my benches, as you can read below, I do some actions (untar, du, find, tar, rm) with linux kernel sources, dropping cache, each on distributed, replicated, distributed-replicated, single (single

Bug in plot() with POSIX dates (PR#4024)
When I do this (highly simplified example): plot(as.POSIXct(c("1984-01-01","1984-01-02")), c(1,2), col=2) I get a partially red (col=2) x-axis between and including the first and last tick marks. Otherwise ok. Only happens with POSIXct or POSIXlt dates. Also, POSIX dates cannot be used on the y-axis? POSIXlt gives an error, and POSIXct is unformatted. Bruce Using X11

Nested matchers
We''re encountering a failure with Mocha 0.5.6. We had this expectation: game_version.expects(:attributes=).with(:game_file => kind_of(GameFile), :game_id => @game.id) This expectation was passing with 0.5.5, but fails with 0.5.6. I added this test to parameter_matcher_acceptance_test.rb, which passes in 0.5.5 and fails in 0.5.6 def test_should_match_nested_parameters
