Switch to Nvidia from ATI
I am having some issues (e.g. System lock ups) with my
ATI 9250 Video card.
I am thinging about replacing it with either a Nvidia
FX5200, FX5500, or a FX5600 card.
Is anyone using one of these cards on Centos 4.1 with
the stock (XORG) nv driver?

Extract DMI info when running PXELINUX
Hi all
Is there any way to extract information (like what dmidecode provides)
from within PXELINUX and, based on this information, selectively perform
an action?
What I'm trying to do is provide a method of flashing the BIOS of our HP
Linux workstations but different workstations use different methods of
updating the BIOSes. For example, the xw9300 uses 'rompaq' where the

CentOS and EMC PowerPath/Naviagent
Is anyone using CentOS 4.4 with an EMC Clariion SAN?
In particular, I want to know if PowerPath and Naviagent will work on a
CentOS 4 system connected to a san using Qlogic or Emulex cards. I tried
a couple years ago with Fedora Core 1 or 2, and couldn't get the kernel
modules from PowerPath to work since the kernel wasn't the official RHEL
one.

CentOS 5 - Booting halts when loading UHCI
I have CentOS 5 installed on a Compaq Evo. I don't know the exact Evo
model. When I first installed it, booted up fine. Now, when it boots, it
freezes when it loads the UHCI kernel module. Here's what I see:
input: AT Translated set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input0
Creating block device nodes.
Loading uhci-hcd.ko module.

files in a directory limitation
Just curious but is there a limitation on the number of files in a
directory? I am using ext3.
I'm not concerned about file size just the number of files.
Thanks,

version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libpthread.so.0
I just installed EMC PowerPath 5.0.0 and Navisphere Agent and CLI on a
CentOS 4.4/x86_64 system. When I try to start naviagent, I get the error
below. Before upgrading to CentOS4.4, this same system had RHEL3 ES for
x86_64 on it, and the same problem was encountered. I spent weeks going
back and forth with EMC tech support, but the problem was never
resolved. I'm hoping someone here on this

Just know that the pre-sale evaluation was of the nForce4, and didn't

A couple of questions regarding the survival:::cch function
Dear all,
I have a couple of questions regarding the survival:::cch function.
1) I notice that Prentice and Self-Prentice functions are giving identical standard errors (not by chance but by programming design) while their estimates are different. My guess is they are both using the standard error form from Self and Prentice (1986). I see that standard errors for both methods are

Case-Cohort Analysis
Hi All,
I am in the middle of doing an analysis of a Case-Cohort design. I had three questions about the analysis:
a) Does any one know of some public code for developing the patient risk sets (indexed by failure time) or is there a better way to organize the data?
b) I was planning to use the Barlow weighting method. Has this or any other weighting method (Prentice, Self-Prentice) been

OCFS for SMP kernel (EM64T)
Hi all,
My Ct's box is RH 3.0 SMP kernel EM64T.
They are asking if OCFS for SMP (EM64T) is available or not.
In following site, we can not see OCFS for SMP (EM64T).

Competing risks Kalbfleisch & Prentice method
Dear R users
I would like to calculate the Cumulative incidence for an event
adjusting for competing risks and adjusting for covariates. One way to
do this in R is to use the cmprsk package, function crr. This uses the
Fine & Gray regression model. However, a simpler and more classical
approach would be to implement the Kalbfleisch & Prentice method (1980,
p 169), where one fits cause

xen kernel smp; but only one cpu
Hi
Booting my Xen Dom0 on Debian Etch (Kernel is the prebuild one from
bits.xensource.com), I found that only one cpu core (of two: dual core)
is recognized by the (dom0-)Kernel. Googling this issue, I found on
xen-devel-list that xen kernel is named smp but isn''t really doing so.
Is there any (prebuild) kernel that I can use for smp?
Thanks

RE: [R] when can we expect Prof Tierney's compiled R?
If we are on the subject of byte compilation, let me bring a couple of
examples which have been puzzling me for some time. I'd like to know a)
if the compilation will likely to improve the performance for this type
of computations, and b) at least roughly understand the reasons for the
observed numbers, specifically why x[i]<- assignment is so much slower
than x[i] extraction.

SYSLINUX 3.09-pre2: release candidate
It appears that increasing the command line limit to 1023 caused the
.bss memory area to overflow. Unfortunately NASM didn't detect this as
it ought to have and therefore I didn't catch it as an error.
I have dropped the command line limit to 511 characters and released it
as 3.09-pre2. This is a release candidate; please test it out and if it
works I'll make it 3.09.

回复: cch() and coxph() for case-cohort
I tried to compare if cch() and coxph() can generate same result for
same case cohort data
Use the standard data in cch(): nwtco
Since in cch contains the cohort size=4028, while ccoh.data size =1154
after selection, but coxph does not contain info of cohort size=4028.
The rough estimate between coxph() and cch() is same, but the lower
and upper CI and P-value are a little different. Can we
