Rename Variable and package gdata
Dear R-helpers, I hope someone can help me with the following problem: I derived a variable from many others and produced data.frame: toktempo When I look at the variable name I get: names(toktempo) [1] "otok.V5" But I want the variable name to be Tempo so I googled around to find info about renaming variables. I found a webpage which seemed to indicate to me that there was a

[PATCH] qemu pcnet emulation fixes
The attached patch to the qemu emulation of the pcnet hardware fixes several problems. It will now only read and write a transmit or receive descriptor once. It will correctly handle transmitting frames with more than two fragments. It will discard oversize frames instead of corrupting memory. I have tested all the changes I have made and even seen an improvement in receive performance from

future time stamps warning
Time stamps are correct and my system time is correct. I am now tried to use Sys.setFileTime() to update time stamps as proposed. This does not help. The windows and debian builds give different reports on the time stamp issue. https://win-builder.r-project.org/incoming_pretest/eurostat_3.2.8_20180920_122655/Windows/00check.log

Recoding
I want to do some recoding of variables: code Age into groups and recode a factor into a smaller number of levels. There are a couple of options for recode functions, in the car package and in memisc, and I think in gmisc. Does anyone have any opinions on the the easiest, most reliable approach for these problems? David Scott _________________________________________________________________

vignette output: word_document problems
Hello: Clicking "Knit Word" in RStudio 0.99.893 with R 3.3.0, works fine with a vignette with "output: word_document". However, "R CMD build" throws the following error: $ R CMD build pkgW2vignettes * checking for file ?pkgW2vignettes/DESCRIPTION? ... OK * preparing ?pkgW2vignettes?: * checking DESCRIPTION meta-information ... OK * installing the

Fwd: Learning advanced R
I've found two problems in interpreting adv-r-master/book/build-book.r: 1. All pathes in build-book.r refer to the starting-directory "adv-r-master". However, the script build-book.r is located in the directory "book", which is located in directory "adv-r-master". Therefore, pathes starting at "." are wrong (should start at ".."). 2. Some

vignette/knitr help
I need some help understanding a problem running the tests on the 'digest' package. Initially, I got the message that the 'knitr' package was needed to run vignettes: Running vignettes for package ?digest? Error in loadVignetteBuilder(vigns$pkgdir) : vignette builder 'knitr' not found So I installed the knitr package and all its dependents (?mime?, ?stringi?,

Suggestion: Custom filename patterns for non-Sweave vignettes
Hi, as far as I understand it, the new R devel feature of processing non-Sweave vignettes will (a) locate any "[.][RrSs](nw|tex)$" or ".Rmd" files, (b) check for a registered vignette engine, (c) process the file using the registered "weave" function, (d) and possibly post process the generated weave artifact (e.g. a *.tex file). I'd like to propose to extend

Include pre-existing PDF files as vignettes in an R package?
Thanks, Duncan. The files in question are Emacs Org-mode files, and I think these are more or less isomorphic to Rmd files, but I haven't used Org-mode in a long time, so I think the mapping (Org-mode ==> Rmd) would be painful. -- Mike On Mon, Feb 19, 2018 at 1:20 AM, Duncan Murdoch <murdoch.duncan at gmail.com> wrote: > On 18/02/2018 9:06 PM, Michael Hannon wrote: >>

Problem building rmarkdown vignettes with child
Dear Community, I have an Rmarkdown vignette with optional child documents. Since all markdown files in the vingette folder are build when executing R CMD build I did place the child documents in /inst/ParametrizedReportChid/ so they are excluded from the build. I do reference them from the markdown file in the vignette folder by: ```{r referencingChildDocument} child_docs <-

If they aren't LaTeX then they won't be able to masquerade as Sweave files, so things are

post_processor in rmarkdown not working
That is strange. Another function in the same package (INBOmd::inbo_rapport) uses the same trick. I actually started by copying the post_processor() from that function. INBOmd::inbo_rapport() works both with and without BibTex. Working examples are source/inbo_rapport and source/inbo_rapport_basic from https://github.com/inbo/inbomd_examples. Note that you need some extra work after installing

post_processor in rmarkdown not working
Dear Duncan, Thanks for chiming in. Could you explain how you set debug() on post_processor()? I've tried adding debug(post_processor) to rsos_article() or adding debug(post_processor) when after post_processor was defined in the debugger. Neither work for me. All supporting files are available within the package. The code below should be reproducible on your machine.

Include pre-existing PDF files as vignettes in an R package?
Greetings. The group that I work with has just started using the approach outlined in Karl Broman's handy primer: http://kbroman.org/pkg_primer/pages/vignettes.html to create vignettes for a couple of R packages. This works fine as long as we have a current Rmd version of the vignette. But we have some old PDF documents that we'd like to include as vignettes as well. I'd like
